Raintree Hotel

This hotel needs a renovation at the earliest & the quality of the food is not up to mark(especially the buffet breakfast). The hotel's room tariff is quite less & definitely not value for money. Just for name sake that also have a gym(fitness center) and a roof top swimming pool.

Well, I am giving two stars for their location, not for the services. Their internet services were not working in rooms & were limited to their lobby area only. Apart from that Rooms were stinky & tacky (Mat with dark stains & dust) with broken furniture. (when we asked hotel staff for this they were giving excuses for management reorganizations). Washbasin had water lodging problem. Although they have mentioned the availability of Indian food in their menu, the breakfast didn't have such options for which we paid a huge amount. In early April 2019, I was in Athens for a work related seminar and decided to break my trip back to Nairobi with a two day overnight stay in Dubai. Considering I was not on office leave, I needed a hotel which had good internet connection to enable me work away from the office while also enjoying some sight-seeing in the afternoons and evenings. Since I had an early flight back to the airport on my return, I searched for hotels close to the airport and landed on Raintree Hotel owing to its competitive pricing and also because they indicated that there is strong reliable internet. I duly did my booking online with minimal fuss. To my utter disappointment and dismay, there was no internet! I had scheduled a series of skype calls for the two days so you can imagine my disappointment. Upon enquiring with front office, the first answer was “we are doing an upgrade” followed by the second most common answer “the technician is coming later in the day” and the third answer “we are working on it”. Surprisingly, all staff I asked (5 in total) seemed to give different responses and did not really seem to know what exactly was wrong with the internet connectivity. It pays to at least have one standard line. I noticed a constant beeline of hotel guests always going to the reception with the same query, and all left disappointed. A hotel of this stature should really have plans for alternative supply should there be a problem with the main supply, it’s not rocket science really. Also, at least let your guests know the truth so that they can plan accordingly. It was so frustrating for me to constantly run down the City Centre Mall every time I had a skype call. Any guest staying at RainTree should visit this mall, it is magnificent! Anyway, I digress. Have at least a fallback option should your main internet option fail. 3 consecutive days without internet connectivity is a definite no. That being said, there are (some) positives. The food is good (not spectacular) and the services are what one would normally expect. The food is tailored towards their Asian clientele, which I guess makes sense since they form a large bulk of guests though it wouldn’t hurt to consider your other guests. The front office staff were also friendly and courteous and will continue to give the hotel a good name with this kind of positive attitude. Special mention goes to Rahman who does the night shift for his tireless attitude and willingness to support. Jalil is another one who deserves special mention as are the two ladies at the front office whose names I did not get, as well as their vivacious supervisor. You made my stay memorable. Other than that, the internet issues totally made my stay unpleasant. Learn to be honest to your guests, it will go a long way in helping you earn their trust.
