Every day is Mardi Gras at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, which looks just like the New Orleans district it’s named after.
Strolling through this place, you’ll be forgiven for thinking you’re in the heart of New Orleans’ historic French Quarter. Flowers bloom over wrought-iron balconies, and glass lamps illuminate cobblestone walkways.
The waterfront resort shows off the extravagance of New Orleans, AKA the Big Easy. The food court puts you in the middle of a Mardi Gras celebration, and the pool is surrounded by musical characters.

A very pleasant resort
As my first time staying at a Disney resort I was in awe at the grounds at French Quarter. There are lots of public shaded places to sit and watch the world go by, with lovely greenery and water features. The New Orleans theming is brilliantly done and really feels authentic. The resort itself was quiet, except in the food court, but we didn't spend much time there. Transport to the parks was excellent on average no more than a 20 minute wait for our bus and we usually got a seat. The actual room was pretty basic, but it is a moderate resort and we spent most of our time in the parks. It was clean though and spacious. I would definitely like to stay again sometime. More
Great Resort with Upgrade
We recently stayed at Port Orleans - French Quarter for the second time. The room was nice and clean. We upgraded our room to have the Disney Princess decor. The room is identical to the regular one, it just has more fun decor, such as the princess pictures and fabric over the bed as a canopy and curtains to separate the sink area. The bath/shower area is very small. If it were larger, it would have been so much nicer. It's a large complex, so you may be walking a good ways to your room. Once you figure it all out, it won't be too bad. The grounds are very nice and well kept. You can catch a bus in the front of the resort which is nice. We never had to wait very long for a bus. The gift shop is great. The restaurant isn't too bad at all. They have a nice looking pool and play area. We caught the boat that takes you to the shopping mall area of Disney. Nice slow boat ride. You don't want to be in a hurry. It's a nice resort to stay at. For the age, they keep it pretty nice. They might be ready for updates soon. Oh, and if you get a cranky person at guest services, no worries...there are others that will make up for them.More
What a let down
So. We haven't stayed at a Disney Resort in a while and thought we would give it a shot. My husband is military and we get generous discounts all over and for the value, dollar for dollar I had decided against staying at Disney for the past few years. This was a special occasion, our first trip in 16 years without the kids! Also I'm having surgery and will be down for the next month or so. I thought we'd splurge, so I booked a package at Port Orleans, French Quarter for one night and then 4 nights at Port Orleans Riverside(had to split the stay due to room availability.) We also got the dining plan. We were really excited. We used the magical express and I have to say I didn't find it to be so magical. The lady working the line was rude. So rude in fact my Marine husband actually said, "Well her attitude isn't so magical." We laughed it off and went on our way. We ended up standing in line for about 35 mins. That wouldn't have been too bad but it was really stuffy and hot in that area. There was no air movement. Everybody was drenched in sweat by the time the bus came and remember this is November. The temp outside was only about 72. Our plane arrived at 750pm. We didn't get to our room until a little before 10. We then called for our luggage. They said it was on a truck and would be brought to our room shortly. Almost 3 hrs later it made it to our room at 1250 am. This caused me to get to bed a lot later then I had planned. The next day we got up and started getting ready. The first thing I noticed when I went to get into the shower was a big smashed bug on the wall. I thought that is not acceptable for a Disney room. The room was $296 /night. When I got out of the shower my husband pointed at the shelf for me to look at. He was going to put his hat up there but realized it looked dirty. There's a picture attached of the bug wall and dirty shelf. After seeing the shelf I noted the room seemed it may not have been used in a while because there was dust everywhere. We were checking out and decided to just let it slide. We didn't make a complaint about the room being dirty until the next day. We checked into Port Orleans, Riverside the next day. There was a cleanliness issue there that led me to telling them about our dirty room at the French Quarter. After this trip I can say we won't be returning to Disney Property any time soon. We visit the parks every year. We will stick to local Hiltons or rent a condo/house. Disney Resorts just do not live up to the hype or have the value for what you pay. More
Nice and relaxed resort, Let down by Untrained, dangerous staff in the food court.
Loved the feel of the resort, with the boat transfers to disneys springs being a perk. The pool was nice to chill out in. Rooms were nice but starting to get slightly outdated, only bad thing is having to walk back to the canteen to refill the resort mugs - would be good if each block had a freestyle machine. However our experience was let down by dangerous staff in the Riverside food court, Having allergies I could only eat certain foods and had checked what I could eat. While waiting to be served one of the staff members serving messed up on an order but rather than wasting the food decided to tip the fries back into the serving container with the rest but this had been in contact with other food which would mean it was no longer allergen free. I bought this up with another member of staff who was serving, but as they got round to doing our order she had forgotten and not bothered to tell the other member of staff, they had carried on serving the fries so I remindered her again and she said ok and went and got a new batch of fries, but then immediately poured the old fries on top of this new batch, When I pointed out to her again what she had just done she just seemed confused, until I explained again and she went and had to get a 3rd batch made up. Clearly the staff have no food safety training so god knows how many near misses have happened due to staff stupidity and with no supervisors/ managers around they are just left on their own device, clearly not throwing away a meal is more important than the risk of someones life to these 2 Disney employee'sMore

nice place to stay
french quarter is a very nice convenient place to stay, it is compact so whole resort is walkable, casual restaurant is by lobby and has good casual food offerings. there is a nice pool and kiddie area with pool and playground. the bus goes directly to parks without any other stops and there is only one stop in front side of resort. buses run regularly and were not crowded. this will be my go to place to stay in future.More
