    The words family and fun aren’t in the name of this place for nothing. It’s got a 5D cinema, a Medieval-themed splash park and a collection of pools.

    The Gran Castillo Tagoro Family & Fun dishes up something for all ages. There’s an adults-only pool for parents to chill out in, and a splash park with slides and a huge dragon for children. The beach is right outside, too.

    Elsewhere, you’ve got three restaurants and five bars. One of the places to eat is on the beachfront and flashes an adults-only tag. There’s also lots of entertainment, like live shows, plus a hotel-run kids’ club.

      There's a choice of pools here, all surrounded by spacious terraces, with sunloungers and parasols dotted around them. A couple of poolside bars are on hand to keep you refreshed and there's an adults only pool, too, where you can lie back on a Bali bed*.

      The splash park is perfect for little ones, with a choice of slides, including a dragon's tail one that takes centre stage.

    • Kids' club

      The hotel run kids' club is great for the little ones, with four separate activity areas for children aged 4 to 12. There's a ball pool, an arts and crafts area, mini-football pitch, and an interactive area, which features video games and virtual games.

    Just back from relaxing girls break at Gran Castillo Tagoro. Position of hotel is lovely, right on the water front. We had booked a two bedroom suite. The first suite we were given was on the ground floor. It had a very small ground level terrace, which faced DIRECTLY onto the public toilets for the swimming pool and nothing else. When we asked for a change of room (after being told there were no others available and having to seriously complain) we were eventually given the only other available 2 bedroom suite. The rooms themselves were great - very large and comfortable, but extremely dark as the balcony was totally enclosed apart from a small opening which had a massive tree right in front of it (see photos)! We were so disappointed with this as at no point did it get any sun, or even light, at all - so there was little point in it and we had no private space to sit outside This did spoil the holiday experience a bit. On a positive note the adult only pool and bar were great and the choice of food (including veggie and vegan) in the buffet restaurant was fab. Evening entertainment was seriously dodgy and very amateur, although this didn't particularly bother us. There was a lovely area with heaters to sit outside at the sports bar in the evening. If you are booking this hotel and like a balcony with any sun, I would confirm your room in advance, as a significant number of the rooms appeared to have very poor, enclosed balconies which didn't get the sun at all.
    Perfect for a young family

    Today is our last day at the hotel. I was cynical before coming after having read some bad reviews but there is nothing I can fault really. The rooms are huge and always clean with bathrobe and slippers provided. The facilities for small kids is really great, our little one is only 8 months old and too young for the kids club and other facilities but he did go to the baby club a few times which he seemed to really enjoy. We probably enjoyed it more though as he was in there for 2 hours and we were able to go to the adult pool and enjoy some relaxing quiet time with a beer! The best other thing I really liked was the baby menu, different purées everyday for breakfast snack and dinner. They just seemed to have everything taken care of. The food was also great each day with plenty of choices. I particularly enjoyed the fresh fish every day. The best thing for me though has to be the staff. Every single member of staff from the reception to waiting staff, cleaners, chefs and animation team were super friendly. They all went out of their way especially with the baby. Mateo particularly loved Amparo from the animation team and Majid, one of the waiters. But so many others remembered his name and would chat to him every day which always put a smile on his face. I heard someone complaining about the amount of babies here but at the end of the day, it’s a family hotel and if you don’t want to be surrounded by them then go to an adult only hotel.
    Helpfulness may have saved a dog’s life!

    We were passing the hotel around mid-day & heard a dog barking in a car. On closer inspection the dog seemed quite distressed & the car was in full sun with a window open. We were concerned about the dog’s welfare so popped into the hotel. One of the staff came out to look & was also concerned, as were others passing by. The member of staff undertook to see if it was a staff or resident’s car, and if not said he would call the police. He seemed genuine so we hope there was a happy outcome (ie. the dog was OK & the owner locked up!). A big thank you & well done to the male member of staff who got involved.

    Just back from gran castillo tagoro a family of 20 ppl Good points 1st Rooms were fab very big cleaned every day family pool was lovely wasnt to cold so was grand to use as was the kids pool with the slides other pools were freezing Food in main resturant was nice always found something to eat italian resturant i went to once didnt really like the food but others in the group did Bad points I suffer with virtigo and panic attacks and cant use lifts and my husband cant do heights and emailed the hotel explaining this and asked for a ground floor and they told me they do there best. when i booked in i was on the 3rd floor whuch ment i had to walk up and diwn staurs all the time and couldnt use our balcony because my husvand couldnt sit out over the height .they told me there was none available and ghere was nothing they coukd do but i discovered after we booked in that some of the group i was with all got ground floors .my son and girlfriend flew out the day before us and a rose gold bracelet went missing from the room 2 days before they went home and ghey said they would look into it they put a letter threw the door nite begore they left to meet manager or to get me to meet manager which i had to and was told nothing they cud do they asked the cleaner and she said she seen it there taking into account it was with a chain and chain was found under a tray with shampoos on it so all in all it was suppise to be a 5 star family hotel i only gave it 3 because of all that happened
    Improvements at main restaurant since last time

    We have stayed in this hotel on 5 occasions. This review is about our stay in November 2019. We had a senior suite which was fabulous, all the rooms in Gran Castillo are brilliant, so large compared to normal size hotel rooms. The senior suite was fantastic, living room with TV, large bedroom again with TV, big bathroom with bath and separate shower, and a separate walk in wardrobe. The balcony was huge with two sun beds and table and chairs. The main restaurant has had some work done to improve it, definitely an uplift. Pool bar has also received a refresh and is good. Food was excellent with the usual wide variety. Drinks are all good international brands. At dinner we skipped the House wine this time (it’s fine) and picked of the wine list at maybe €12 extra and it was very good. As mentioned by others the Italian restaurant is very good and well worth a visit. In November we went as a couple but have been before with the wider family and grandchildren which we intend to do again. Really good hotel with great facilities for all the family.
