    This hotel is in one of the island’s most scenic spots. Along with great views, you get three main pools and two restaurants.

    This place is built into a cliff, which means you get panoramic views over the island of La Gomera and Los Gigantes. Playa de Arena is about a 15-minute stroll away, and you’re five minutes’ walk from the sea.

    The Barcelo has three huge pools and a good range of eating spots, too, as well as a snack bar which stays open late in summer. There’s also a handful of bars and restaurants just outside the hotel.

      This buffet restaurant serves a range of international cuisine for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There's live show cooking with meat, fish and pasta dishes. Not only that but you can enjoy your meal while admiring the views of La Gomera. There's a dress code here, with full-length trousers for gentlemen at dinner.

      There are three outdoor pools to choose from. Dotted with palm trees, sunbeds and parasols you have views of the sea from all three. The pool snack bar is also within easy reach.

    • A la carte restaurant /Tapas bar*

      On some days, this restaurant serves meat grills and a dessert buffet selection. On other days it becomes a Tapas bar, complete with a choice of Spanish wines and a terrace with views of Mount Teide. It's open on selected days and there's a smart-casual dress code - men are asked to wear full-length trousers at dinner.

    We stayed for 2 weeks in November. Great location, with beautiful views. Very clean hotel. Pools had varied temperatures which was good. Lots of sitting areas around the grounds. Friendly staff. Surrounding area hilly .

    So when you arrive like people have said you go to a make shift reception and first impression are not good, you are rushed to sign loads of paperwork and then pointed to where the signs are to your room. We found the rooms clean and tidy a tad small but who spends all day in the room, the view from the balcony was amazing just a shame about the work going on down below. The room was made up everyday but bedding was not changed I am sure if we asked it would of been. The big let down of the room is the toilet and shower. They are next to each other and the toilet door had a gap when you closed it so you could see in and out, and with the shower we found that you had to turn the water on when you went in rather then allowing it to heat up because the water went everywhere on the floor and that got slippery, also there is no privacy because when you step out of the shower to get your towel because there is no where to leave it in the shower and if you don’t like your mate/partner hearing you going to the loo you are going to need headphones. Entertaining was ok nothing great to be honest we found Going out to the local bars more fun and relaxing. The food is ok but not 4* it was very similar everyday day and food was Very greasy and the wait for the coffee was bad. We Found a bone in one of the chicken dishes we was eating, when we had a word with the dining room manager his English was very poor and did not really seem to understand and then disappeared and then came back for our room number very poor management. The pools are lovely but not heated and we found plenty of sun beds and chairs around the pool. And then the pool bar same drinks nothing special and we tried to order food there One day and was told very rudely that we could Not because the lunch restaurant was going to Be open in 30mins so we would have to wait for that. The waiters of an evening were good always there asking if you wanted a more to drink which was Nice. I would say this hotel is a 3* because hotel needs better management and updating. The view is definitely 5* from the pool area and the room we had which was 538.
    If you enjoy queuing for your food and drink, this may be for you.

    Superb location hotel with ample exterior lounging space, let down by insufficient catering staff. Bacon and beans and scrambled eggs were like warm at breakfast, queuing for coffee machines and fried eggs/omelette every day. Food was repetitive for all nine days with little variation or imagination. Vegetables at Lunch and Dinner were mainly overcooked each day.Not four star quality food. Rooms have been updated, but En suite bathrooms have not. Insufficient parking on site and surrounding streets.

    We stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in order to celebrate a 60th birthday. From arrival to departure we were very happy with everything. Although there was some building work going on it did not spoil our stay and at times was rather entertaining! We were on an all inclusive package and were impressed with the variety of drinks that were included. Our room was on level 3 and overlooked La Gomera - it was great to sit on the balcony early morning or at sunset just listening to the sea. The room was quite spacious and had all that was required - including dressing gowns and slippers! We enjoyed the variety of food in the restaurant and certainly dd not go hungry. The animation team worked very hard but there was no pressure to join in if you didn't want to. We would certainly return to this hotel again.

    We like this hotel, it suits us, we love the spectacular views of the Gigantes ( 2000ft high cliffs ). The staff are generally very good, some of the cleaning staff leave a lot to be desired. Probably due to poor supervision. Pool view rooms get the most sunshine on their balconies, but get a lot noise from the poolside "entertainment.". Rooms facing Los Gigantes town and cliffs get much less sunshine but are quieter. Rooms at the back have little sunshine and no view worth talking about! Much of the hotel has been "improved" recently, but as with many other hotels we have stayed in, sometimes you wonder if the designer has just come out of art college and never actually tested their ideas! Oh yes and the bed was really comfortable. Be aware that although the hotel is generally invalid friendly, the surrounding areas are not. Santiago/Los Gigantes is all hills and they are mostly quite steep.
