Roc Lago Park Apartments

Family of 4 went in August. Apartment 3043, best one, right next to the pool. We were self catering so didn’t try the food but everyone said the food was lovely. Very clean apartments and the Animation team were the best. The games and facilities were very basic but the animation team made simple games like pass the ball such fun. We found ourselves wanting to get back in the evening to join in with the fun. Adrian, Virginia and Alfonso done a fantastic job and could entertain adults as well as the kids. Can’t wait to go back next year.

We ended up staying at the Roc Lago as Thomas Cook completely changed our holiday booking at the last minute and gave us no alternative but to stay here or get the next flight home. This hotel would never have been my chosen resort at all and was in a completely different area of Menorca to where we had booked to stay. Upon staying here we tried to look for positives but these only appeared to be the location (if you have chosen to stay in Cala en Bosch that is) the hotel is positioned right next to the harbour where there are lots of bars and restaurants but if it is a beach you are after this is a good 10 minute walk away! The hotel states it is family friendly but this maybe pushing it slightly. The apartments are set over 2 sites with a main road in-between if you are unlucky like us to be put the other side then expect a long walk especially with young children to get anywhere. There is a pool and a small bar on the other side but the pool is tiny with no shallow end to speak off and the bar opens for maybe a few hours a day if you are lucky. The apartments from photos may lead you to believe they have slides but these are at the waterpark up the road which is an additional cost of I believe €20 a day per adult. The rooms can only be described as run down and basic, our first room had cracks in the electrical sockets, water damage, chunks of wood that appeared to have been kicked out of the wardrobe, the toilet constantly ran and the bathroom fittings were either covered in mould or rusty. We were moved after we persisted to something not much better but by this point we were too tired to argue any longer - which upon entering had cleaning solutions left on the main table included the similar bathroom and the addition of a portable air conditioning unit run of extension leads over the children’s beds !!!! The maid service was limited, some towels were left each day dependent on what seemed like if they could be bothered. We arrived back one day to find a wet cloth covered in cleaning fluid on top of some of our clothes and the main sliding doors unlocked. We complained to reception who did not want to take any responsibility for this at all and basically said what would you like us to do about it it’s done now !!!! - fantastic customer service ? The restaurant was limited in size, if you arrived after the initial opening time you often had to que out of the door to wait for a table, due to the level of people eating at one time the staff struggled to keep up with demand, this led to longer delays in customer turn around. The restaurant was full of flies at all times as well so we chose to sit outside quite a lot of the time which surprisingly meant you were less bombarded by them. The hotel offers a half board service but what they don’t mention is this does not include any drinks, not even water which in my opinion is ridiculous. They offer a drinks machine of sorts with the breakfast service so why can these not be offered for the evening meal? On one evening the hotel had issues with fresh running water, the restaurant still opened, still had the toilet facilities open even though they had no water throughout ! There did not seem to be any care for hygiene that evening ? All in all, I could continue with the negatives but I think from reading you will understand that I did not book this hotel and after staying at this hotel I definitely would not re book, the facilities are basic, it isn’t very family friendly and the staff are actually not very helpful.

Nice spacious rooms , friendly staff , good food ! Okay childs/adults entertainment . Set in a very picturesque marina ! Assortment of places to eat . Very close to shops , supermarkets etc . Beautiful beach . Aqua park within walking distance Small train to ride everything you would want . Pool large enough but no slides or things for the children to do
