Zafiro Palace Alcudia

Had a really fantastic family holiday (with wife, children and grandchildren) at this upmarket and smart hotel. Stayed on an inclusive + basis for 7 nights in September 2019. Large suite was immaculate (2 rooms, bathroom and kitchenette and hotel facilities incredibly good - many pools. some with water play features, family entertainment, restaurants and bars. Staff were exceptional and attentive - particularly with children. Hotel in great location right next to Alcudia front and approx. 1 km from Alcudia Old town. One of the best family hotels in Majorca.

The hotel was very luxurious and nice, however, the staff was extremely rude. They ignored one and were unwelcoming. In addition, our family felt unfairly treated at breakfast. No other family had to show their room card at the breakfast queue but every morning we had to show ours even though we stood out compared to other guests in the looks. I felt very badly treated because of this and ruined the morning every day because we felt they must have recognized us. During our stay the pools were icy cola and no one could swim, would have been good if they could warm the pools a bit. Despite hot weather, the pools were freezing and there was no swimming in the pools but in the sea it went well. Therefore, I am incredibly dissatisfied with the choice of hotel. To be so expensive and nice öppning the staff was the one that dragged down the whole stay. Not homely at least not if you stand out from other guests in appearance and are not Scandinavian.

Just returned back from an eventful and fun week at Zafiro Palace! The weather was awful! We couldn't believe it! We had such an unlucky week - it was stormy and rainy. We had about 2.5 days of sunshine, 2 days of rain and the rest very overcast. However … we still had a great time, the children loved it. Took 45 minutes from Palma to the hotel. Used a great company called cheap taxi’s – very good and only a £10 deposit to secure. Reception. Big and airy. Friendly welcome and they did offer an upgrade for a ground floor room near a swim up part of the pool but for an extra 280 euros but considering it wasn’t actually a swim up room i didn’t see the point. Near the end of checking in we were offered a glass of fizz and the kids some juice. Would be nice if this was offered immediately on arriving - just a tip! Room was very nice. We stayed in a zafiro suite - a bedroom with sliding doors to a room with a sofa bed and a section of kitchen and then a bathroom off of that. I was impressed. We went to the restaurant every evening. We didn’t use any other restaurants just because the buffet was so much easier with the children plus the playground was behind this and it was the go to after dinner! Food in the buffet!!! Lovely!!! Very tasty! Quality of food was excellent. They were very good at clearing the plates in the buffet restaurant – they were very efficient and the restaurant was spotless. The hotel in general was very clean. The playground was great for the kids and the kid’s club staff were lovely. Penelope in particular was amazing so friendly! All the staff were very good with the children. A little outhouse building was the kids clubhouse where colouring and painting was done. Its only small but did the job and parents of children under 4 were allowed to also attend. To be honest all parents were allowed. There was a bouncy castle in the playground also. The pools were great – although very cold – they are not heated and it made playing in the pool very difficult when overcast and chilly so something to think about as the weather turns chiller perhaps October/November. The pirate ship was brilliant for the kids as a great area – and at 5pm the kids club team put on a dancing show with games. Staffing by the pool was an issue – there was zero service round the pool - you had to go to the restaurant by the pool bar to get a drink – this lessened the 5 star rating for me. At times there was only 1 person behind the bar. When you are all inclusive you have to carry your card everywhere which is a bit of a pain. But I suppose you have to weigh up what you prefer a band or not. Indoor pool tiny and cold! We paid all-inclusive and because of the children needing a proper lunch etc it worked out great for us. Negative point is - all-inclusive isn’t the same as in other hotels. The issue being with snacks. There are a few sandwiches and fruit that was left out at certain times and an ice cream bit you can grab - but no crisps or anything like that. The drinks are expensive though so that also was good being all inclusive. I love that you can walk in to the town – the beach is great. Some lovely restaurants – a good family vibe. I would go back 100%. But! I would be a little worried in peak season as from the reviews it could be too crowded and I don’t think I could handle the bed saving with towels! We met some lovely people there - a great week just shame about the weather but the staff did well to make sure the children were occupied.
