Horrible customer experience for an overpaid half board service accommodation

I was looking for something special in Lanzarote and I found on Booking.com a 3bedrooms Cottage in Alondra. To make even better my experience, I added the Half Board service, paying in advance 50 eur for dinner per person (300 eur per 3 dinners). The tariff was labeled as “low rate – no money back”. Considering the high cost for dinner, I was expecting the best dinner experience ever in Lanzarote. At my first dinner at the restaurant Arena I discovered that: 1) food quality was average, 2) the choice a la Carte was limited as fish main dishes, 3) prices a la Carte were not so high compared to the cost I prepaid. Choosing 1 entrance, 1 main dish and 1 dessert with the prices published on la Carte I would have spent even less than 50 eur. 4) not even a glass of water was included. I had to pay all the drinks, even if before I was told by the receptionist that one drink (water or glass of wine) was included. If usually the concept of half board is that you pay in advance to have a more convenient service, In this case there was NO CONVENIENCE at all for the Booking.com customers. As a customer of Booking.com I paid an higher price compared to what offered on the Alondra website. After asking for clarifications, someone of the staff told me that the normal price for HB dinner was 32 eur. Comparing pricing online (booking.com vs the hotel website) I realised that for the same type of room and service there was a difference of 150 euro on 3 nights!!!! What did I after? 1) I complained with the hotel after the first dinner and on the following days to ask for clarifications and expecting excuses and a better service. The staff of the hotel was not empowered to solve my case, they were just speechless and the manager probably did not have time to solve my case. 2) I contacted Booking.com, explaining the situation, showing the systematic difference of prices on any date. They contacted the hotel but nothing changed. 3) After 3 days of bad experience, without any apologise or even a simple solution found to solve the issue, I checked-out and asked for a formal complaint form to be sent to the local tourism agency. I did the official compliant and left the hotel 4) As soon as I left, I promptly received a message from the hotel. They did not want to leave me with a bad impression of Alondra Resort, therefore they offered me a MONETARY REFUND WITH 2 CONDITIONS: to avoid any bad reviews on social networks/web/media and to do not continue with the official claim. 5) I replied that first I wanted to know: why they did not manage my issue during my stay and how they were going to fix the price issue on booking.com 6) They did not reply to me properly to my questions, that’s why I decided to DO NOT ACCEPT their monetary offer and TO BE FREE TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE AND AVOID THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS WILL FACE THE SAME SITUATION in the future. IN CONCLUSION, I learnt that ABSENCE OF CUSTOMER CARE is not something that can be fixed from one day to another and even the best location can be ruined by a bad service. This is a pity since Alondra accommodations are really wonderful. I also learnt that BOOKING.COM is not working properly for this Hotel. THEREFORE IF YOU WANT TO PAY A FAIR PRICE for this Hotel, I DO NOT RECOMMEND TO BUY IT ON BOOKING.COM BUT BETTER TO CHECK FIRST ON THE HOTEL WEBSITE.
Great Family Holiday

Recently stayed at the Alondra Villas and couldn't recommend it enough. From start to finish, it was a very relaxed stay. On arrival we were presented with a tablet which served as the villas wifi and also as your point of contact with reception. If you needed anything you could simply email reception from the tablet and they would reply relatively quickly. Breakfast was included in our stay and the short walk to the restaurant through the grounds was always nice and relaxed. We also had a bottle of wine and water waiting for us in our kitchen when we opened the door which was a nice touch. We had a 3 bedroom villa with private pool. The main bedroom came with air conditioning and an ensuite with his & hers sinks and robes. The dining/seating area also had air conditioning and afforded plenty of space for 4 adults & 2 kids. The only problem we had when staying was, as a large group, we went through towels quite quickly and feel that they could have been changed more frequently in the villa. Other than that, it was perfect. The pool area was spotless and the pool was checked and cleaned almost every morning we were there. We enjoyed our stay immensely and can not wait to return again in the New Year.
Great first holiday with baby!

We have had an excellent stay at the Alondra Suites in a two bedroom deluxe villa. This was our first holiday with our 8 month old baby and we were really pleased with all the facilities. We had a travel cot which we were able to take out by the pool during the day and a high chair was provided upon request. The villas are very spacious with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and each had a mini walk-in wardrobe too. One bedroom had a jetted bathtub and the other a large walk-in shower. The kitchen was well equipped and had a ‘secret’ door to a utility room with washer and dryer. The pool outside was lovely and bigger than we expected. We paid 100€ to have it heated and swam everyday. The tablet for the WiFi was great and it was easy to contact reception if needed. There was plenty of choice at the breakfast buffet with good food and a lovey setting overlooking the communal pool in a walled garden. The location is a little out of town however we enjoyed the walk and it kept us fit walking back up the hill! The staff were all very friendly and helpful and we would love to return.

Beautiful setting and stayed in two different villas which were both tastefully decorated with a great set up! Weather was quite cool so was glad that we had contacted in advance to have our pool heated! Staff all very helpful and the use of tablets for contact is a great touch! Breakfast was lovely and relaxed and the ambience is chilled and inviting. Also had a volcanic hot stone massage with Annie at the spa which was fantastic!!! Would strongly recco if looking to stay in this area!

Spent three nights here. Very luxurious!!! We were upgraded to a suite with own pool and jacuzzi type bath. Breakfast was very nice. Probably would hire a car if we stayed here again as they were up a steepish hill. Having said that taxis were very cheap. Supermarket was about 10 min walk.....which seemed a lot longer when walking up that hill with bottled water. Would definatly return to these gorgeous villas and suites!!😁😁
