Laid-back Las Gaviotas is ideally placed, a couple of minutes’ walk from a chilled seafront promenade and beach.
This place has clinched a great location. For starters, it’s a matter of minutes from the beach. Plus, it’s close to the waterside promenade, which leads to Matagorda and, further along, the buzzing town of Puerto del Carmen.
It’s a pretty place with bright white bungalows ringing the pool. Inside, it’s all neutral walls and white furnishings, creating a light and airy feel. They come well-equipped if you decide to cook, with an open-plan kitchenette and garden terrace, complete with table and chairs for some al fresco dining.

Well maintained holiday complex
Stayed for 14 nights in November. The exteriors and grounds were very attractive looking and obviously well maintained. Each block of bungalows has its own outdoor pool, which we used every day. The bungalows were quite well equipped for self catering and the location was good for accessing the local supermarket, which wasn't too expensive considering its monopoly. A small selection of sport bars, cafes and restaurants were also nearby. All the staff were friendly and helpful and maid service was more than adequate. However, the satelite tv was too basic and wifi was not free.More
5night break at Halloween
Stayed in Las Gaviotas apartments for 5 nights. Receptionist was friendly and helpful organising a lift from reception to apartment/bungalow, a distance of 200mt. Apartment was very clean, maybe a bit dated but not bad and cleaner was in 3 time during our stay, changing towels etc. Balcony/patio was adjacent to pool area. Pool had safety glass surrounding it meaning that you could only access it be steps which is very safe for children and no diving. breakfast was included in our package, and served in restaurant beside reception. Was a buffet breakfast with plenty to offer, all the usual, fresh fruit, cereals, bacon, sausages, eggs, hams and cheeses with tea, coffee and toast. Very enjoyable. Apartment was about 5min stroll to supermarket and local bars and restaurants and only another 2/3min walk to beach. Walkway along beach was pedestrianised and different bicycles could be hired on a daily basis. Apartments are 7/8min taxi ride from airport costing €10, take taxi rather than local transfers much quicker, we travelled from belfast, over 4hr flight and sat on transfer coach for 55min waiting on coach filling up, this cost €8.50. Take Taxi!!!!! Took a coach tour off island (grand tour) booked at reception was good to actually see the whole of the island including Fire Mountain, Vineyard and under ground pool with white lobsters, we also took a camel ride not included on tour. Would we go to Las Gaviotas apartments again, yes, without a doubt. Very enjoyable time and the apartments about 35nr, in our complex was quiet although they were all fully booked.More

Great beachside spot
We stayed as a family in Block 1, number 5. It was a superior room; the front door opened onto a cul-de-sac with the shopping centre across the road and the back door to the pool. We had a lovely time--our first time to Matogorda. If you want a quiet location but with everything you need close by, and cheap taxis to take you to the hustle and bustle in Puerto del Carmen this is the place for you. I would recommend Fliston's bikes across the road, with cycle paths in both directions. Pros: Location, staff and breakfast. The staff were all pleasant and welcoming. I particularly remember one receptionist, I think called Daniela and another lady whose name I don't know but she greeted us warmly for breakfast each day. The breakfast was varied and tasty, buffet style. Cons: the pool was small (it didn't matter too much, because we were so near the sea). No laundry room (although there is a drop-off service in the Centro Commercial). And the reason I gave 3 stars rather than 4, although this quibble won't affect most people: when my husband and sons had to delay their travel by 4 days, the management would not allow us to alter the booking to bring my sister and nieces (same ages as we had booked for) instead for those four days. There is no entertainment laid on and no poolside music. This is a friendly tranquil complex in a great beachside location (certain blocks anyway). Although I was cross about the booking change we were refused I would book it again.More
This time tried B&B
Hi have just returned from a one week stay, and have stayed many times before, have tried B&B this time and have to say perfect good all Irish or English breakfast, restaurant very clean and every item replaced soon as gone low All superior have air condition which blows hot or cold, great location if want to hire a bike, My wife has a disability and would suggest that the hotel take one bungalow at a time and convert bath into walk in shower, if this was done you would have best bungalow with best location Thanks to Danela on reception who is very pleasant as is all staff and looked after our every needMore
