Barceló Corralejo Bay

Thoroughly enjoyed this holiday and impressed by the up to date refurbishment. We have always enjoyed staying here but this time it was beyond expectations. We will be returning. The one thing we would like would be more sun beds as we found it difficult to find one in the afternoon. We are not the type to put a towel on one first thing in the morning to save them.

This was our 2nd visit to this hotel and it way exceeded our expectations. We arrived to a lovely warm welcome from the reception staff and were given the very same room we stayed in when we stayed here 4 years ago. The hotel has been upgraded since we were last here and we were impressed by the changes made, we had a large double room overlooking the pool, the room was gorgeous and exceptionally crisp and clean, the bathroom had a large walk in shower with a rainfall shower head, twin sinks and toilet etc, we had 2 double wardrobes one of which had drawers built in and a safe, we also had coffee and tea making facilities and a mini bar ( which got emptied and used as a fridge). The food was buffet style but lovely and there was plenty of choice every night, even the fussiest eaters would have found something tasty to eat. The pool area was spotless and well maintained but there was an issue with having to queue every morning for a subbed, there seemed to be a shortage of beds and something that will need looked at, the staff in the hotel are a lovely bunch of people and were very welcoming, polite and friendly. This hotel runs a free bus down to the beach at the dunes and is minutes away from a great selection of bars, restaurants, shops and a water park We will definitely be returning to this hotel as with both visits we have had a lovely relaxing break and did not want to return home. We definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to book to stay at the Barceló Corralejo bay,

Recently stayed at the Barcelo Corralejo Bay. Hotel is adults only which is nice but it's far too quiet. Location: Hotel is in a great location for quick access to the beach and the town where there are lots of bars and restaurants catering for all tastes. Bedrooms: We stayed in a standard room which was facing the road and got the sun in the afternoon. The rooms have recently been updated and have to say they are lovely they feel clean and fresh. Towels and bedding are changed regularly and can be done daily if you really need them to be. Safes in the rooms do need to be paid for, but this although frustrating is the same in most holiday resorts so to be factored into your costs. Food: the food is buffet style and can be hit and miss. Some of the themes are a little bland and tend to have the same foods regardless. The food is not always hot despite the attempts of the staff to try and keep it hot. The queues for breakfast and any of the meat dishes at dinner are frustrating and not what you expect from the price and star rating of the hotel. Either more meat cooking counters need to be open or food is cooked in the kitchens and brought out ready. We figured out if you eat breakfast around 8:30 your okay. Any time later then we gave it a miss as didn't want to queue for a slice of bacon and or cereals. For evening anytime before 19:15 is fine. Pools: well what can you say about the pools. The hotel has 2 pools one deeper than the other. However, don't expect to be able to stay round them unless you are prepared to join the ridiculous queues in the morning. We saw people queuing before 8:30 when the pool opens at 9:00. Many of the guests reserve their sunbeds then head out for breakfast or out of the hotel. This is despite a hotel policy which states this is not allowed. We never saw any of the towels being removed from beds which it states in the policy. However, when you can get by the pool, the atmosphere is nonexistent. There is no talking, no background music no nothing. Only dirty looks if you make any sort of noise. Staff: The staff at the hotel are very pleasant always smiling and happy to help. They are quick to remove plates and dishes when you are finished. As an added note, the hotel says it prides itself on returning guests well the second and third time we have stayed there was no recognition of our previous visits despite informing the reception of our Mybarcelo number. Their response was you have to book through the hotel. I stay with many hotels for my job and a member of most of the schemes and most of them allow you to enjoy the hotels and possible upgrades and features if your part of their scheme regardless of how you booked the room. This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel and I'm afraid to say it will be our last as the queues food and the pool situation just does not make this a good choice for a nice holiday it only led to our frustration and wishing we'd booked the Sands hotel which is up the road.
