This family-run hotel gives you a pretty pool, great local food, and a setting that’s handy for trips into town.
This authentic little hotel is tucked away in the hills above Funchal’s old town. That said, it’s only about a 10-minute walk from the marina. Back at base, there’s a pool framed by well-kept gardens.
Breakfast is served in a sunny room by the pool. There’s also a bar where you can enjoy local snacks and wines indoors or out. Last but not least, there’s a small gym and a sauna to unwind in.

Amazing staff and hotel
Thanks to all the amazing staff at the Albergaria Dias Hotel. My wife and I just spent a week here for our silver wedding anniversary and all the staff went out of their way to make it very special. We chose this hotel as we liked the sound of it being small and friendly, and it certainly is. We now know why everyone rates the hotel and staff 5 out of 5 as it is well deserved. The rooms are spacious and very clean. The breakfasts are great with a large selection of hot and cold food to suit anyone. The food kept coming out of the kitchen to top up all the dishes. Had a couple of light snacks with good wine sitting by the lovely pool and gardens. Located in the Old Town, it is well situated for walking, dining and drinking. Plenty of very good restaurants nearby - tried The Forte, Cris's Downtown and Mozarts, all great. Thank you again Albergaria Dias, Stuart & CoralMore
Vakantie op Madeira
Lovely hotel with great service and very friendly and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast buffet. Parking is a bit of a challenge. Situated in the old town, nice area and many restaurants at walking distance. More
A charming hotel with exceptional staff.
Enjoyed a lovely relaxing week at this charming hotel. Couldn't fault a thing. Relaxing breakfasts, lunches & drinks by the pool attended to by wonderful staff members who always took an interest in their guests. The owner Mr Dias greeted us on arrival and also waved us off on departure. Such attention to detail which is not the case in the bigger hotels. Will definitely return if visiting Madeira again.More
Welcome to Home in Funchal
It was like staying at our own house when we were in this place on the 17th & 18th October . Hospitality to the warmth and amazing breakfast we had enjoyed in our stay @ this hotel. Convey our special thanks to Ms Luisa & Cecilia for taking good care of us when we arrived late night at the hotel . A final ode to the owner & his son for such a quaint wonderful home . ShekharMore
Perfect place to relax
We are so glad that we decided to stay at Albergaria Dias. The Hotel is run by a father and son team. Mr Dias senior met us at reception and warmly welcomed us with a complimentary drink in their beautiful garden. The hotel is immaculately clean and is a lovely oasis just a short stroll from the old town. We loved having a pre-dinner drink or post-dinner drink in the garden, which was quite a chilled out affair. The hotel isn't adults only, though there were only adults there during our visit. We were charmed by Mr Dias senior at breakfast who was making sure that the breakfast selection was topped up and that everyone were well fed for their days adventures. We wouldn't hesitate to return on our next visit to Madeira.More
