São Brás Holidays
Holidays to São Brás take you to the real Algarve. Here you’ve got sweeping countryside views, authentic restaurants and easy access to the beach.
A relaxing view of the Algarve
This unspoilt little town in Portugal’s Algarve used to be the world’s biggest cork producer. It isn’t any more, but it’s still home to some of the prettiest countryside around. Life in São Brás centres on the main square, but the town’s got its own museum and gallery, as well as swimming pools and a cinema. There are historic buildings, too, including a church that dates back to 1755.
Daytrips to the beach
The nearest beach, Praia de Faro, is 22 kilometres away. It’s actually an island – though you can reach it by road – with a long strip of sand that slopes gently into the water. Faro’s main beach packs plenty in – as well as loungers and umbrellas to rent, you’ve got beach bars, restaurants and shops along the seafront prom. You’re even allowed to bring your own barbecues.
Near Loulé
You’re just eight kilometres from this historic town, packed with pretty churches and gardens. There’s a castle dating back to 1249, plus a convent that, these days, is home to an art gallery. You can wander the town’s cobbled alleys and streets, then head to the main street, Avenida de José da Costa Mealha, to grab a coffee and watch the world go by.
