Spectacular views, gourmet dining, and designer good looks keep the Epic Sana Algarve at the top of its game.
The views at this hotel are first class. It’s set in acres of pine forest, and looks out over the sea. Pathways weave through the greenery and down some steps, all the way to the shore.
The hotel is really contemporary. The lobby features chains of huge, bubble-like pouffes, and gigantic plant pots sprouting near-leafless trees. Equally-swish bedrooms are done in a foresty green-and-brown colour scheme.

I don't do yoga (or anything like it) but my lasting memory is yoga on the lawn (under the tree of love) to the soothing voice of the instructor and the gentle tapping of the drum from his assistant. I would happily do that everyday.More
An Oasis of Calm
Spent 14 nights here and loved it. It is a serene and peaceful hotel where nothing is too much trouble for the staff be it in reception, by the pool or the cleaning staff. It was a breath of fresh air to find a hotel that enforces a no reserving sunbed policy as this usually drives me crazy. I would say that the pools were all very 'fresh', sometimes too chilly to be comfortable but the lovely cosy towels soon warmed you up.The walk to the beach is lovely and the ochre coloured cliffs stunning. The only problem is there are no toilets or bar so tricky to spend too much time there is difficult. Room We had a ocean facing room so great view and overall spacious and clean with a super king size bed. I can see that the modern bathroom is not everyone's cup of tea but I quite liked it although there is no place to hang anything other than draping towels and wet costumes all over the bath! Food: We were half board and enjoyed the wide selection at breakfast and free flowing OJ. Coffee served at table tasted great but was sometimes hard to come by as the staff were busy - maybe a jug on each table would be better. An ever changing selection of buffet in the evenings enabled us to try different types of fish and sides and the desserts were yummy. Lunch can be taken by the pool which is pricey with large portions or over the road where there are 3 or 4 good cafes offering well cooked and we priced food. Lima the Italian restaurant is fabulous although the menu is a little limited in choice. The quality is amazing and service fantastic. The only complaint... Having enjoyed 11 nights of calm we had our bubble burst by a large group of young people on a company summer vacation. Fancy dress party, running up and down corridors and destroying the quiet by the pool felt out of keeping with the hotel and the Epic Sana brand. Whilst I understand the commercial benefit to the hotel of holding conferences I do feel that this was a huge error of judgement on behalf of the decision makers and it spoilt the end of our holiday! I would, however, return and may do next year!More

Good and Bad
First the bad! Arrived after dark and was pleased with the room. Dismay followed in the morning when we realised that our "ocean view" which we paid extra for, did not exist, due to the luxuriant foliage on the roof garden a floor below which completely enclosed the balcony! We moved to the floor above, the 4th floor. The bathroom is indeed stylish but not practical at all, the movable Japanese style walls affording no privacy. Toiletries are standard issue, expected better as in Pine Cliffs where you get Elemis products. Pool towels were wonderful, large and soft, not so the bathroom towels which were more often than not, grey, thin and on one day complete with a large hole. Turn down service at night was intermittent, especially if you were still changing for dinner when they came......sometimes they came back, most times they did not, so you missed out on the free water. Only one sunbed on the balcony and this needed changing, bit decrepit. No beach bar or loos. Now the good The staff on reception could not do enough for you and always with a smile, changed our room so smoothly, dealt with my complaints about turn down service efficiently, helped with translation of medication instructions. Pool area is very good, plenty of comfortable beds with super towels replaced whenever you need. Tasters of fruit shots and doughnuts frequently brought around by bar staff! Bar staff delightful, drinks always accompanied by mixed nuts or crisps. Never any problem in finding sun beds, staff always available to help put up umbrellas. Lovely beach, good workout every day climbing back up the steps. Did not use pool restaurant, so can't comment. Few bistros and Pizza places in square outside hotel, but again did not use these but they looked quite good. Drinks prices were normal for this type of hotel and on a par with London. Hotel was immaculate, public areas and rooms. Grounds lovely but feel they could be used for sun beds for those who do not want to sit around the pools. Room was large and well appointed. The bed was very comfortable and linen changed every day. Overall a lovely hotel with super staff, and we would go back as we enjoy a quiet relaxing holiday in the sun. We do not require a "night life" but if you do this is not the hotel for you. Do feel however that the "bad" points should be addressed, hence the 4star rating.More
Beautiful hotel, great location - food and drink far too expensive
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights after marrying in Portugal the weekend before. The hotel is stunning. From the decor to the gardens and pools through to the rooms, it's so beautifully designed. As you can guess it's spotlessly clean and that goes for the daily visit form the room service team. The hotel is well located with it's own stairs down to the amazing Felicia beach and many shops and restaurants within a short walk. The staff are fantastic, very friendly, very helpful and knowledgeable in their area's. We stayed half-board. This covers a massive selection of breakfast foods and in the evening a huge array of options for dinner - which changed daily. The food was well cooked and tasted great. Allergy warnings are very clearly marked next to each dish and there was a good selection of gluten -free options on offer each evening. The hotel has 3 other restaurants on site which you can swap out your inclusive dinner for. Doing so gives you €25 per person off the bill. I believe there were Sushi, Italian and fine dinning options but we didn't try them out. So the reason for the 4 stars only and the title of this review; Anything outside of your inclusive food and drinks were, I'm afraid to say, extortionately priced. The rooms are again nicely presented, but totally open plan - including the shower, bath and toilet area which won't be to everybody's taste. They're well equipped and perfectly clean. The pool bar offers a good range off food and drink but at €7 for a beer, €13 for a cocktail and €19 for a burger (Yes €19!!) we were instantly put off. We spend a lot of time in Portugal and this is by far the most expensive hotel prices we've seen. Many guests we spoke to echoed our thoughts, not to mention that the pool bar was empty at lunch times. Thankfully, there's a decent section of very well priced options just a short walk from the hotel, so if the prices are a little too much for your budget then there are plenty of options. Would I go back again - i'd have to say YES, as the good easily outweighs the bloated food and drink pricing, but only because there are options so close to the hotel.More

Best Holiday Ever - nearly!
This is a very attractive hotel with a very modern style. Our room, along with the rest of the hotel, was spotlessly clean, and remained so throughout our 10 day stay. Hotel staff were, mostly, very attentive to our needs. The only exception to this was that we occasionally had a bit of a wait for the bar staff to serve us. Some bar staff seemed very busy whilst others appeared to be quite good at dodging guests! The food, especially the choice of meat and fish, was excellent. It was always well presented and piping hot. The breakfasts were also excellent with plenty of choice and eggs cooked to order if required. The pool we used was the one designated for adults only. There was never a rush for sunbeds, but that could be because we visited after the school holidays. We were always well looked after by Elton, who made sure everyone had a bed, a parasol and plenty of nice towels. The only downside, around the pool, was that one whole side of the pool was taken up by three cabanas. These could only be used if bought as a package (which included drinks). It was very pricey and we only saw it used for one afternoon during our stay. I’m sure this area could be better used by allowing hotel guests to spread out a bit more around the pool. The hotel has access, via quite a few but easily managed steps, to the most wonderful beach. We actually walked along the beach to Vilamoura, which took us approximately one hour. The cliff face is breathtaking and the beach is clean with very soft sand. My wife would like me to add that the toiletries in the room were the biggest and best she has ever seen! This hotel has a well deserved reputation. Wonderful rooms, good location, outstanding food and if we get the chance we will definitely be paying another visit to the Epic Sana.More
