View All DealsHolidays to Skala Prinou take you to an undiscovered part of Thassos. Here you'll find golden sands, tasty Greek food and a totally relaxed vibe.
This little village on Thassos’s northwest coast is one of the island’s 2 main ports. You’ll see a clutch of hotels and apartments on the seafront, but otherwise this is an authentic Greek village, pretty well untouched by tourism. People flock here for its beautiful sandy coastline, mountain views and greenery. It’s the ideal spot from which to explore the island – and you can drive round the whole thing in close to an hour.
The coastline here is called Dasylio Beach. It’s made up of long stretches of sand that shelve gently into clean, shallow waters. Take a wander down the coast and you’ll discover small, secluded beaches, all of which make ideal spots to enjoy the sunsets. On the bigger parts of beach, meanwhile, you’ll find loungers to rent, as well as a cluster of beach bars serving drinks and snacks.
There are regular buses to the island capital Thassos Town – otherwise known as Limenas – which is 17 kilometres away. The top sights here are the ancient ruins. Above town sits an amphitheatre you can climb up to. There are temples to Apollo and Athena too, as well as a museum packed with archaeological discoveries like sculpture, ceramics and pots – many date back as far as the 7th century BC.
