Earlier this month, we took our #YourBigDay bride Jodie wedding dress shopping. In between trying on the stunning gowns, we grilled her on wedding style, her dream ceremony and how she felt about the day…
Our #YourBigDay couple Jodie and Tim have won their dream wedding in Mexico but, as part of the deal, they’re leaving the crucial decisions down to you, including picking the dress, shoes, colour scheme and more. We took Jodie to The Ivory Wardrobe and Ann’s Bridal Room where she rifled through endless racks of gowns, tried on as many as she could and whittled them down to three options for you to choose from. Voting for the dress is now closed, but here’s her thoughts on planning the wedding…
It would be really classy but still glamorous with a bit of sparkle too. I thought Kate Middleton’s wedding dress was absolutely gorgeous. She looked so classy, elegant and beautiful, just like a true princess should be.
I’d want them to look elegant and comfortable on my wedding day. Long floaty dresses in maybe pastel colours? But it’s something I haven’t really thought about yet..
I was so excited but nervous about picking 3 dresses rather than just 1. I didn’t know what to expect as I’ve never been wedding dress shopping before, but both of the shops we visited made me feel so comfortable so it was really fun. I was very open to trying on loads of different styles as well, because I know people say it’s the dress you least expect that’s always ‘the one’.
I thought I would never like a strapless dress, but when I tried it on it made me feel slim and I liked that the top was open. I also didn’t realise how much you could change the look of a dress with a simple alteration. Adding bits to them like belts, straps and brooches can make them look completely different.
I get inspiration from lots of celebrities and use Pinterest to get ideas for looks. I love Kate Middleton’s style, she always looks amazing in casual or formal clothes. Mollie King and Michelle Keegan’s outfits always look great as well.
I always dreamt of having the perfect fairytale ceremony, but just celebrating with the people I love is the most important thing.
