More than 600 couples entered our #YourBigDay competition to win their dream wedding in Mexico, and we’ve narrowed it down to the final 3. Take a look at their stories and then vote for your favourite…
Last year, we held the UK’s first crowd-sourced wedding. Our #YourBigDay competition for 2015 follows the same format – giving one very lucky couple the chance to win their dream wedding. All they have to do is agree to let our Facebook community select the details of their big day, from the wedding dress and shoes to the colour scheme. Now we’ve narrowed the 600 entrants down to our top 3, we’re also giving our Facebook followers the chance to choose the winning couple. Take a look at their stories and then head to our Facebook page to cast your vote.
Tim and Jodie are from Warwick. They’ve been together for 6 years and got engaged on the beach in Fuerteventura. Here’s their engagement story…
“We jetted off on little family holiday to Fuerteventura in June 2013. At the time, I was about 5 months pregnant with our daughter. On the first full day, Tim insisted we go to the famous La Olivia beach. I was sat relaxing in the sun when Tim and our son went to fill up a bucket with water to make a sandcastle. As they crept back over to me, both holding the bucket and looking very suspicious, I thought they were to trying to get me soaked! But as they got closer, I realised that the bucket was empty and in the bottom was a box. Tim then nervously got down on one knee and propsed. I was in total shock and just kept saying “oh my god” and “is this really happening”. Happy memories!”
James and Emma live in Essex. They’ve been together for 4 years and got engaged in front of the castle at Disneyland Paris. Here’s their engagement story…
“Just a couple of weeks after our 4-year anniversary, James whisked me away to Paris for a long weekend in Disneyland, a place I have fond memories of as I worked there some years before. After a restless night through excitement (for me) and nerves (for James), we went to the park. We walked around the excitedly before heading to the castle to take some photos. A this point, James insisted on asking staff members to take the photos of us and disappeared to find somebody to help. I just wanted anyone to take the pictures, so was getting annoyed! We’d had a few photos taken when James turned to me, placed his hands on my cheeks, and said “you know how much I love you”, before dropping down on one knee to ask if I’d marry him in true fairytale style. My heart stopped for a second, tears streamed down my face. I nodded frantically and just about managed to get the words out and say “YES”. I leant down to kiss him while onlookers applauded. As I stood back up, he presented me with a beautiful ring. After another massive hug and more applause, we walked away with the biggest smiles on our faces!”
Jody and Norma live in Edinburgh. They met in Tenerife, and he proposed at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. Here’s their engagement story…
“On a recent trip to America, we planned a trip to the Grand Canyon, where Norma surprised me with a helicopter tour to the bottom of the Canyon. Little did she know I was waiting for the perfect moment to pop the question, so when we had 30 minutes to explore the Canyon, I asked her to marry me and she said yes. I was the happiest man alive. On the return journey she didn’t see much of the scenery as she was staring at her new, shiny ring with a huge smile on her face!”
