Deputy Editor of Wedding Ideas Magazine, Jade Pearson, reveals her top bridal fashion tips for an overseas wedding…
The British weather simply won’t do, so pack your bags and jet off to a sunshine-filled celebration abroad. Thomson Weddings have got the planning sorted for you, but you still have the biggest decision to make… what should you wear? Here are some top tips for choosing the perfect outfit for your overseas wedding.
The last thing you’ll want is to be sweltering in a hefty gown before you’ve even stepped foot on the aisle, so look out for lightweight designs. Chiffons and tulle are the best choices because they look super elegant but are light as a feather.

Choosing a wedding abroad means you can break traditions more easily. Short wedding dresses not only look fabulous, they will also keep you cool, too. If you’re getting married on a beach this is particularly useful because the sand won’t damage your dress.

Every bride wants to look and feel like a goddess on her big day, and the Grecian look is a sure-fire way to achieve this. Choose luxe chiffon for shimmering style with a one-shoulder strap and elegant embellishments. Complete the look with a sparkly belt for instant glamour.

Trying to walk down a sandy aisle in high heels is not a good look, so make sure you choose a low pair of shoes for the wedding day. Kitten heels should be okay, but we recommend strappy sandals, flats or even flip flops. This will add to the laid-back look of your wedding.
Your accessories can be both pretty and practical. Holding a fan looks super chic and will keep you cool, or you could choose a lacy parasol, which will shade you while also making for fun photos.
