Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. And whether you’re loved up or celebrating singledom, we can help you find the perfect match for your personality – in terms of travel experiences that is…
Extending for over a thousand miles, Namibia’s coastal desert is an adrenaline-junkie’s playground. Activities on offer range from skydiving and parachuting to quad and mountain biking. Forget skiing – here you can sandboard down 300 metre high sand dunes. Climbing takes place on the Spitzkoffe mountain, a challenging ascent nicknamed the Materhorn of Namibia. If all that doesn’t quite quench your thirst for action, there’s always shark fishing in nearby Henties Bay.
You can’t get much further away from it all than at the Ananda Spa & Hotel in India. As the former palace of a maharajah, the hotel is set in a garden oasis on top of a Himalayan mountain, with spectacular views. The 70 rooms offer luxury facilities as standard. And when it comes to dining, there are 3 restaurants, one of which is on a treetop deck. The 24,000 square foot spa provides over 80 options to de-stress. If that’s not enough, you can unwind with yoga or a meditation session.
As China’s most populated city, Shanghai is a cultural hub, with an eclectic mix of old and new. On Old Street, hundred-year-old stores sit next to newly-opened tea houses. Shanghai Museum looks modern from the outside, but inside you’ll find 11 galleries exhibiting thousands of Ancient Chinese artefacts. You can spend a day wandering around the temples, ponds and pavilions of the Yùyán gardens, before hitting the varied restaurant scene and catching a show.
Ibiza is dubbed the party island. But Croatia is fast becoming a strong contender for the title. Here, you’ve got dozens of islands to choose from – Pag, Hvar, Brac and Rab are all particularly hot for their nightspots. But if you can’t commit yourself to just one, party yachts cruise around them all, anchoring at a different venue each night. Music festivals run back to back throughout the summer. At Electro Dance Madness, from 17th to 21st June, party-goers rave on a massive dance platform on the sea. INmusic, from 22nd to 24th June, is the largest open air dance event in the country and marks its 10th anniversary in 2015. Meanwhile, the international DJs at Ultra Europe, in July, attract 150,000 people from all over the world.
