Karisma Hotels & Resorts – A (Not So) Secret Recipe
Karisma Hotels & Resorts are the first word in luxury. Whether it’s an island retreat in Croatia or a big beachfront place in Mexico – here’s how they cook up one of their Gourmet All Inclusive hotels…
Karisma Hotels & Resorts are the darlings of the luxury travel world, with everyone from Condé Nast Traveller to Forbes throwing awards at them. They call their hotel concept Gourmet Inclusive® – but we call it spoiling yourself rotten. Here’s the recipe for their first-class hotels…
Step 1. Take a trending location
Everyone wants a bit of Croatia at the moment – Karisma included. Kalamota Island Resort is on an island close to lovely Dubrovnik, and serves up the glass-like waters and mountain views that Croatia does so well. Plus, Karisma’s newest Croatian hotel, the Adriatic Beach, opens its doors in 2015.
Jamaica (pictured above) is also on their radar this year – you can read all about the grand opening of Sensatori Resort Jamaica here.
Step 2. Stir in some swim-up suites
Everyone loves a swim-up room – and Karisma offers them in droves. Try the suites at the El Dorado Casitas Royale for size, and you’ll get a private open-air shower and a plunge pool that flows into the hotel’s lazy river. Pillow menus, a turn-down service and 24-hour room service also come as standard.
To indulge in butler service, head for the main pools. Little luxuries like cool scented towels will be delivered straight to your lounger.
Step 3. Sprinkle on a handful of Gourmet All Inclusive restaurants
It’s Gourmet All Inclusive all the way at Karisma, so expect a host of Michelin-trained chefs. Ingredients can’t get much fresher, either – especially if you stay at the El Dorado Royale, where gardeners grow fruit, vegetables and herbs in its giant greenhouse.
The dining scene has bagged loads of awards, too. Take Le Chique restaurant (pictured below) in Sensatori Resort Mexico – it won Travel + Leisure Mexico magazine’s Gourmet Award for the best-tasting menu thanks to its 12-course dinner specials.
Step 4. Add award-winning wine lists
It’s not every day you come across a hotel with resident sommeliers (that’s wine experts, to you and me). And these sommeliers obviously know their stuff, because the Wine Spectator website gave El Dorado Seaside Suites an Award of Excellence for the impressive wine list at its grill restaurant.
Step 5. Top it off with movie star good looks
Karisma hotels aren’t all about the good looks – but they certainly help. At Azul Beach Hotel you’ve got a gorgeous sea-view pool, while El Dorado Maroma has beachfront rooms with folk-pattern cushions and buffed-up furniture.
