It seems like Ibiza season only started yesterday, but here we are with only a week to go until the first of the closing parties. Before you wave goodbye to Summer and start sobbing into your winter jumpers, we’ve got the low-down on how you can enjoy the last of Ibiza…
Ibiza’s beaches all come with their own personality. Bora Bora is renowned as the party spot while, at the other end of the spectrum, Benirrás is a place to chill out against a hippy backdrop of stunning sunsets and bongo beats. For something somewhere in between the two, head to Las Salinas with an obligatory refreshment pit stop at Sa Trinxa and cocktails at the Jockey club.
Whether you hop aboard the ferry or hire a boat for the day you must, must, must take the time to sail the six kilometres over to Ibiza’s calmer southern little sister, Formentera. Markets, massages and yoga classes are all on the bill as is a harbour side lunch at Juan y Andrea. But don’t be fooled, there’s no need to leave at sunset. With house music marvels, Cocoon setting up camp at the island’s Tipic club and hosting an intimate night of the best music on the island with a line up including Sven Vath and Carl Craig, you’re guaranteed to be leaving home on the morning ferry.
In the heart of Ibiza tucked away in a quiet residential square this family-run authentic Japanese restaurant truly is a hidden gem. Take a seat outside and dine on some of the best sushi in Ibiza. Chef Hideki and his wonderful wife, Elena will cater to your every sake and sushi need. Do not leave without sampling the seared toro nigiri and their famous negi toro maki.
In San Juan on Ibiza’s famous restaurant road, Nagai has more of a fusion feel. Eat under the stars in the beautiful Japanese garden, nestled in an Ibicencan finca where the company and the ambience are as much a part of the sensory experience as the food.
A couple of kilometers north of San Antonio sits this perfectly placed chiringuito. Feast on seared tuna belly, goat’s cheese with mango and creamy tagliatelli followed by pineapple carpaccio drizzled with coconut sorbet sauce. Order a pitcher of sangria to go and hike your way all of 10 steps to the shore line on this intimate beach.
We honestly don’t know where to start with this beauty of a beach bar Sprawling along Playa d’en Bossa’s coastline, Beachouse serves up some of the best food and music on the island. Be prepared to bump into your favorite DJ whilst feasting on the creamiest of burattas. And we highly recommend their mucho piquante Bloody Mary as the perfect hangover remedy.
San Lorenzo restaurant, Paloma plates up some of the tastiest and healthiest dishes on the island. Ensaladas and smoothies are a big deal here. The pear and endive salad should be accompanied by and an avocado smoothie. Or sit under a roof of fairy lit citrus trees after 8pm for a romantic Mediterranean dinner.
Two couples meet on holiday and after a passionate conversation about Ibiza and food they decide to open their very own place et voila, Le Giri is born. This beautiful residence has a restaurant where, if you ask the day before, the chef will cook you absolutely any meal you want. It also plays home to one of the best spas in the Balearics. Ana, the in-house therapist will customise a treatment tailored specifically to your needs and help you with nutritional advice and to understand the make up of your body and its chakras.
WOW. In the northern hills of Ibiza, suspended 180 meters above sea level, the view from the Eden restaurant is truly something to behold. This private enclave shares its panoramic view with neighboring spa La Posidonia. Take in the glittering Mediterranean Sea and mountainous surroundings whilst experiencing their signature Cascadas Suspendidas hydrotherapy treatment, a 45 minute jet body massage that will relax you from head-to-toe.
