It’s not too late to book a half-term family holiday – from chilling on the beach in Mexico to catching the sun in the Canaries…
Winter might still be hanging around, but that doesn’t mean you have to. If the thought of being cooped up indoors come half-term week makes you want to run for the sun, there are still plenty of last-minute holidays to be had. Most of the Med is still shivering in February, so picking the right place for warmth is key. We’ve cherry-picked the best of the bunch for you…
Puerto de Santiago – Tenerife
Tenerife is the Canary island with it all going on – big beaches, chic boutiques and a famous volcano all vie for your attention – so it works just as well for families with tots or teens. For great deals on 7-night half-board breaks try the 4T Hotel Barceló Santiago. Set on a cliff top, in the quiet fishing village of Puerto de Santiago, it’s in one of the island’s most beautiful spots and is walking distance from the beach, shops and bars.
Flamingo Beach Resort – Lanzarote
Winter sun and the Canaries go hand in hand. With its volcanic peaks, soaring cliffs and 30 kilometres of beaches, Lanzarote gets the gong for the most scenic island. At the moment there are some great offers on 7-night All Inclusive escapes to the 4T Flamingo Beach Resort with our sister company, First Choice. Its cheerful rooms, kids’ club and 3 pools are really popular with families, plus it’s got a prime beach location and is just a short walk from Playa Blanca’s harbour.
Xel-Ha eco park – Mexico
Mexico’s Riviera Maya is home to jungle-backed sands, eco parks and the world’s second biggest coral reef. It’s also in easy day-trip distance of ancient Mayan cities like Tulum. For something extra-special, book a 7-night All Inclusive stay at the 5T Azul Fives, by Karisma – a First Choice Premier property. Overlooking a white-sand beach, it’s got 4 pools, 4 à la carte restaurants and rainforest showers in the bedrooms. The kids’ club comes highly recommended, too.
Dona Sylvia Beach Resort – Goa
India’s smallest – and arguably prettiest – state is edged with huge sweeps of sand, while inland it’s all about exotic wildlife and hidden temples. Try the 3T Dona Sylvia Beach Resort – it’s right on the sands of the relaxed seaside village of Cavelossim, has a huge pool, a kids’ pool and 2 à la carte restaurants. It’s also close by to a selection of shops and restaurants.
ClubHotel Riu Merengue – Dominican Republic
Palm-backed sands, roller-coaster mountains and attractions like Ocean World make the Dom Rep’s northern shores a favourite with families. You can also spot thousands of humpback whales here between January and March. You’ll find some great prices for 7-night All Inclusive escapes to the 4T ClubHotel Riu Merengue in half term. Look forward to a tropical beachfront setting, 3 swimming pools and Caribbean Street – a row of rainbow-coloured shops.
