From Swan Lake to the Baltic Sea, our celebrity guest puts his best toe forward…
Celebrity dance legend Wayne Sleep treated cruise passengers to a star turn when he stepped onboard Thomson Spirit.
The I’m a Celebrity star joined the Baltic Explorer cruise to Sweden, Denmark and Russia back in May for the ship’s ‘An Audience With…’ series, where our very own Piers Morgan – cruise director, Richard Grey – grills celebs from the worlds of sport, soaps and showbiz.
He quizzed Wayne on his career with the Royal Ballet, his famous duet with Princess Diana, and his appearance in I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!. But we were most impressed to discover his World Record for an entrechat-douze – even though we can barely pronounce it. For the uninitiated, it means he crossed and uncrossed his legs 12 times in mid-air. Won’t be trying that one at home…
Despite his telly work, Wayne’s true calling is the stage. And it wasn’t long before he started putting our own singers and dancers through their paces. Not only did he treat the team to a rigorous public warm-up, he also reprised his famous Royal Ballet routine from Swan Lake during the evening’s show, ‘Dance, Dance, Dance’.
Cruise Director Richard Grey said: “Having Wayne onboard was a real privilege. He’s as energetic and charismatic in real life as in any of his performances onstage. He spent time around the ship socialising with passengers and even accompanied many of them on a Thomson Cruises tour to the ballet in St Petersburg. He was a delight to have around.”
