It’s Official: Thomson Cruise Holidays Can Save You £££s
We’ve always known our cruises are good value for money, and a great way to see the world, but even we were surprised to see just how significant the savings were when we did a quick comparison study recently.
We picked three of our most popular cruise itineraries:
- Highlights of the Mediterranean Cruise, for a family of four
- Red Sea Magic Cruise, for a couple
- Tropical Delights Cruise (Caribbean), for a couple
We then priced up similar itineraries using the cheapest flights we could find and three or four star hotels in each location over the same period of time, creating a ‘multi-centre’ holiday package. We also included costs for families and couples, just to keep things as fair as possible. The results might surprise you. our illustration below shows just how much you can save if you pick a cruise over a multi-centre holiday.

So which is cheaper: a cruise or a multi-centre holiday?
Our study found that holidaymakers who choose Thomson Cruises save, on average, more than £3,700. That’s a whopping 64% saving. Savvy shopping indeed.
Additional benefits of a cruise holiday
We also calculated how many extra flying hours you’d have to do between each location on the ‘non-cruise’ option. In each case, we discovered you’d spend at least one day of your holiday sitting on a plane rather than being able to relax and enjoy their holiday. That’s a whole extra day savvy cruisers claw back for a bit of well-deserved R&R.
What do you think? Would you rather be stuck on an plane for a day of your holiday, or spend that day taking advantage of everything a cruise can offer?
