  • Find The Right Greek Island

Greece has it all – from beaches and ruins, to sleepy villages and party towns. But where to begin? To help you out, we’ve highlighted 5 of Greece’s must-visit islands…

    KOS

The lowdown: Kos has the full spectrum of beaches covered, from long swathes of sand to cosy coves. Old-world cottages, ruins and windmills follow in their wake. It also caters for night owls, with party animals making tracks for Kardamena and Kos Town.

Where to stay: Blue Lagoon Resort. With this hotel, the clue’s in the name – you’ve got a massive pool, plus a mini waterpark and a children’s pool.

    ZANTE

The lowdown: Zante has some of the best beaches in the Med – and there are plenty of them to go around. Home-from-home bars and restaurants can be found all over the island, especially in lively resorts like Tsilivi.

Where to stay: For something a little different, try a villa. St John’s Villas have peace and quiet written all over them, thanks to the surrounding olive groves. Plus, each villa gets its very own pool.

    THASSOS

The lowdown: Thassos sticks with tradition. For starters, there’s its classic Greek scenery – rolling hillsides and olive groves give way to secluded coves and sweeping stretches of sand. And Thassos Town, the capital, showcases Roman amphitheatres and temples.

Where to stay: Hotel Alexandra Beach. Fronted by a beach and backed by forest, it’s got a super-peaceful setting. It also puts you within easy reach of the little shops and tavernas in the village of Potos.

    MYKONOS

The lowdown: This A-lister of a Greek Island has the likes of Naomi Campbell and the Kardashians making a beeline for its bars, clubs and boutiques. The island itself isn’t short of Hollywood good looks, either – sugary beaches are matched with labyrinthine villages starring chalk-white churches and windmills.

Where to stay: Hotel Porto Mykonos. It fits right into our new Thomson Scene collection, thanks to its smart décor and harbour-view locale.

    CRETE

The lowdown: Crete has the feel of the mainland, thanks to its 650-mile loop of coastline. As such, it’s a please-all type of place – king-sized beaches trail family-friendly Rethymnon, while the interior is all crumbling palaces and castles.

Where to stay: Fancy spoiling yourself? Sensatori Resort Crete is a 5-star hotel with service that comes second to none.
