On Location: Behind The Scenes In Lapland
Our blog editor has been on a very festive visit to Lapland to follow Thomson’s photography team on a shoot. Here are some highlights from the journey…
First things first: a holiday to Lapland is festive from the word go – even the cabin crew on our flight from Gatwick to Ivalo Airport were wearing Santa hats.
Our in-flight meals also had a festive touch (although I can confirm there was no reindeer inside)…
… and all the kids onboard (of which there were many!) were given festive activity packs, which included a Thomson The Dog colouring-in competition. This is Tia, 8, getting stuck in.
The children were also given the chance to write a letter to Santa, who they’d be meeting later in the trip. This is 9-year-old Dillon’s letter – a puppy is top of his wish-list. Join the club, Dillon!
I couldn’t resist taking the obligatory photograph-through-the-window shot – talk about a seat with a view.
As soon as we stepped on to the tarmac, the temperature plummeted. Here’s our plane after landing on the snowy runway of Ivalo Airport. The temperature was -6, which I’m told is positively balmy in these parts.
As we set off for our first shoot of the day, the scenery opened up before us – here’s a snowy scene in Saariselka.
After getting dressed in our snowsuits, it was off to work. Here’s a sneak preview of our models getting snapped in the snow. You might just spot a reindeer in the background – more on them in tomorrow’s post!
