    Game of Thrones Season 6

    GOT season 6, aka the TV event of 2016, will be hitting our screens in April. In case you’ve been living under (Casterly) rock, you’ll know that the series 5 finale was a bit of a big deal. So we’re hoping that Season 6 will answer all of our burning questions. Here’s the teaser trailer…


    Game Of Thrones put Dubrovnik firmly on the tourist trail, so the new roster of GOT season 6 locations are absolute must-visits for fans. Most of the filming took place on mainland Spain, namely in Girona, Navarra, Peniscola, and Almería. You can visit the the Castle of Zafra in Guadalajara, the 10th century Alcazba fortress in the Costa De Almeria region and the Castle of Santa Florentina in Canet de Mar.

    Locations from season 5 include the Alcázar palace in Seville which represented the Dorne palace and gardens, and Cordoba which represented the City of Volantis. Here they are in action…

    Star Trek Beyond

    We’re beyond excited about the new instalment to the Star Trek film series, mainly because Simon Pegg has co-written the script, so if it’s anything like Shaun of the Dead…

    The futuristic franchise chose Dubai as its star location, and the crew even got inspiration for the film while scouting the modern metropolis. Producer Jeffrey Chernov said, ‘I’d see a building and say, we have to figure out how to put that in our movie’. So perhaps you’ll see the Burj Khalifa or the Princess Tower somehow woven into the plot.

    Eagle-eyed film fans also spotted what looked like the set of a crashed spaceship in Dubai’s International Finance Centre where various alien incarnations were strolling casually around, including this guy…

    New Star Wars films

    Toys, games, international events and new theme park worlds have been dedicated to Disney’s new Star Wars trilogy. The first instalment, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, is released on December 17th. In case you missed the hype, here’s that trailer again…


    Jakku, the dessert planet that you see at the beginning was filmed in Abu Dhabi. Just like the original trilogy, cinematographer Daniel Mindel stated that real locations and scale models would be used over computer-generated imagery, so you can actually sink your toes into the same sand as Chewy and co.

    There’s still Episode VIII and IX to follow, so its likely that Abu Dhabi will once again play a starring role. Scenes featuring Chewbacca and Han Solo were also filmed in Iceland which is rumoured to be the filming location for the spin-off Star Wars: Rogue One. So if you’re a massive fan, you know where you need to go…
