Family holidays are great, but if you’re in need of some peace and quiet, and a break from the daily 9-5, an adults-only cruise is just the ticket. Our newest ship Marella Explorer 2 – setting sail in summer 2019 – comes up trumps in this department. Some cruise companies offer specific itineraries for adults, but Marella Explorer 2 goes one step further – the whole ship’s exclusively reserved for grown-ups. Think less kids’ club and splash pools, and more spa and sophisticated dining. Here’s what to expect onboard…
The ship’s Marella Explorer’s sister, which means it’s got some similar features. The first one being a Champneys Spa. This spa at sea will go above and beyond the norm, with signature Champneys treatments, a beauty salon and a full range of fitness classes. Dedicated cruisers will even be able to sign up for a special massage, designed exclusively for Marella Cruises. If you fancy some romantic alone time, there’ll be couples’ suites with private saunas. And the sea-view relaxation room is the pièce de résistance. Plus, The Veranda – a chic, daybed-loaded terrace – will be spread over two decks on Marella Explorer 2. And you’ll still be able to get drinks delivered straight to your lounger.
The familiar faces continue on the drinking and dining scene. Just like Marella Explorer, you’ll find restaurants like The Mediterranean, Latitude 53, Vista and Snack Shack. Marella favourites Kora La and Surf & Turf make the cut, too. And foodies will be in their element at The Dining Club – one to keep up your sleeve for date night. The watering holes come thick and fast, as well. There’s a Brit-style boozer, a bar specialising in bubbles, and plenty of laidback day spots. Just because there’s not a child in sight doesn’t mean the entertainment’s taken a hit, either. Marella Explorer 2 pulls it out the bag with a huge Broadway Show Lounge and Indigo – a bar, club and casino all rolled into one. What’s more, Marella Explorer 2 will be All Inclusive – just like all our ships from summer 2019 – so we’ll throw plenty of drinks into your package. For more on what’s included, have a look at our Onboard Experience FAQs.
Marella Explorer 2 will be based in our new homeport, Naples. From here, the ship will set off on four new itineraries, stopping at plenty of perfect-for-adults destinations, all over the Med. As the name suggests, Mediterranean Gems lets you cross a load of European cities off your list. First, Toulon and Florence, then Rome and Olbia. Adriatic Splendours, meanwhile, ventures east into culture-filled Croatia. Here, you can visit heavyweights Split and Dubrovnik, before dropping in on Mount Etna in Sicily. If you fancy some moussaka and mythology, the Greek Getaway itinerary sounds up your street. It swings by Mykonos, Zante and Crete. Last but not least, Island Discovery does what it says on the tin. You can stroll around Malta’s charming capital, get your history fix in Sardinia, and find hidden coves in Corsica.
As well as a reserved-for-adults ship, we also offer some adults-only sailings, which vary depending on the season. For example, Marella Discovery’s winter 2018 Asia itineraries will be just for grown-ups.
