  • Christmas cruises with Marella Cruises

The most wonderful time of the year is also the perfect opportunity for a cruise. Rather than joining the hordes heading to the shops for those last-minute gifts, leave the cold behind and spend the festive season in sunnier climes instead. Even better, sail with us on Christmas Day and you won’t have to worry about doing the washing up after Christmas dinner. So, what can you expect onboard during our Christmas and New Year cruises? Read on to find out, and browse our Christmas cruise deals if we’ve convinced you…

Which destinations can I cruise to during the festive period?

Specific itineraries vary, but our Christmas sailings all come with a generous helping of winter sun. Our Caribbean cruises tick off loads of big-name destinations, including Barbados, St Lucia, Antigua and Aruba, while Marella Discovery calls at ports across the Far East, like Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. If you’d prefer somewhere a bit closer to home, we’ve got festive cruises that stop at ports of call across the Canary Islands, plus Portugal. And, if you fancy visiting the place all Christmas traditions began, our Ancient Kingdoms itinerary stops in Ashdod, Israel, for excursions to Jerusalem and Bethlehem.

    What can I expect onboard?

Each ship will have their own special surprises planned, but you can expect Christmas trees, music and decorations across the fleet, plus Christmas-themed dishes and entertainment. You’ll tuck in to mince pies, Christmas cookies and Stollen, plus have the chance to reserve a proper Christmas dinner for the big day, complete with roast turkey, sprouts and pigs in blankets. Make sure to catch the Christmas Eve carol concert, and our Step Into Christmas – Band Jam, where the Entertainment staff play a collection of festive songs from across the decades. And if you’re sailing with children, you’re in luck – Santa himself will make an appearance in his grotto. Plus, little ones can explore the onboard Gingerbread village.

What happens on New Year’s Eve?

The festivities keep going during New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Make sure to check out which events are taking place on your Navigate app as it will vary depending on your cruise. But, mealtimes will have a celebratory twist both days, and there’ll be a countdown to midnight on each ship. Plus, make sure to keep an eye out for giveaways onboard and on Facebook during the festive period.
