5 Amazing Ways To Treat Your Mum This Mother’s Day
We should be nice to our mums all year round, but Mother’s Day is one occasion when it’s compulsory to spoil them rotten. Here’s how to make yours feel like a proper princess this Mothering Sunday…
1) Make her breakfast in bed
What woman doesn’t love being woken with a cuppa and some hot, buttery toast while still snuggling under the duvet? Clue: None. Personally, we don’t think you can go wrong with eggs and soldiers on a tray, but if you really want to up the ante, companies like breakfastinbed.co.uk will actually deliver slightly more ambitious brekkie treats to the front door. So why not order that special lady in your life some chocolate, coconut and hazelnut pancakes?
2) Treat her to afternoon tea
Afternoon tea is great for three reasons: firstly, you get to eat dainty little sandwiches – without the boring crusts! Secondly, there’s champagne. And thirdly, there’s lots of lovely cake. If you want to mix it up, there are all kinds of tea packages to choose from, including river cruises, red bus tea tours and even a Burlesque tea (but perhaps not if you’ve got Mum in tow). Our absolute favourite, though, has to be the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tea, which includes candyfloss, chocolate caramel milk and an actual golden egg filled with vanilla cheesecake and mango. Heaven on a plate, basically.
3) Whisk her away on a surprise mini-break
A bunch of tulips and a huge box of Celebrations might be standard Mother’s Day fare, but what if your dear old Ma deserves a bit more than that? A surprise mini-break has to be the ultimate way of saying ‘thank you’, and there are loads of options for four-night stays that won’t break the bank. So within just a few short hours, she (and you, natch) could be sitting at a waterfront café in Paphos, or basking on a beach in Tenerife. Motherly love, indeed.
4) Take her to a spa
Massage? Facial? Pedicure? Weary mums aren’t too fussy. There are loads of day spas around the country, or you can hire a personal therapist who’ll set up a little ‘zen den’ in your mum’s living room if that’s more her thing. But if you want to go one better, you can’t top a treatment on a sun-soaked beach for blissed-out perfection. The spa at Robinson Club Esquinzo Playa in Fuerteventura boasts an oceanfront cabana where the waves lap beneath you as your tensions are gently soothed away.
5) Buy her a bit of the moon
She probably can’t actually go there, but you can prove that you love your mum to the moon and back (see what we did there), by snapping up a whole acre of lunar landscape for her. For just £25, she’ll get a site map to show exactly where her chunk of moon is, as well as lunar deeds and a declaration of ownership. Gift-giving surely doesn’t get much cooler than that.
