Have you always wanted to see the northern lights? You’re not alone. This excursion is one of the most popular tours in Iceland, and tonnes of people put sightings of this kaleidoscopic display on their bucket list. So we’ve made things easy for you – all our Iceland package holidays come with the northern lights excursion included. On the first night of your holiday you’ll set off on a hunt to see this stunning natural phenomenon. If the weather’s not looking good, your excursion will be rescheduled. And, if you don’t see the lights on your trip, you’ll get to go on another hunt the following night.
This daytrip covers some of Iceland’s top sights. And, best of all, just like the northern lights tour, it comes included with your Iceland package holiday. You’ll set off on your adventure on the second day of your holiday, and you’ll cover 300 kilometres of Icelandic countryside over the course of the trip. Expect to explore Thingvellir National Park – which features Iceland’s largest lake – before heading on to glacial waterfall, Gullfoss, and seeing active geyser, Strokkur, shoot out steam.
This excursion takes in Iceland’s stunning south coast. There’s lots to cover, so this trip takes a full day. We’re talking thundering waterfalls Seljalandsfoss and Skogafoss, Eyjafjallajökull – the now snow-topped volcano which grounded planes back in 2010. And, one of Iceland’s famous black-sand beaches, Vik, is on the agenda, too. Make sure you take lots of pictures on this trip – trust us, you’re going to want to remember these sights.
If you’re a fan of a relaxing spa day, this excursion’s the one for you, because the Blue Lagoon takes pampering to the next level. This huge pool, fed by natural hot water springs, bubbles away at a muscle-melting 37 degrees. It’s quite a contrast to the icy temperatures outside the water, making it feel even more relaxing when you slip in. Worried about freezing on the walk from the changing rooms into the water? No fear, there’s a door that opens right into the water, so you can swim your way out. Plus, you’ve got a swim-up bar for drinks, and you can even get a handful of volcanic mineral-packed mud to smooth on your face – it’s great for the skin. If your days are looking busy, you can book an evening trip to see the Blue Lagoon, too.
If you’re visiting Iceland in the winter months, listen up. This boat tour sets sail from capital city Reykjavik’s harbour. As you head out to sea, the captain will tell you all about the different species of whale, dolphin and bird life you should be keeping your eyes peeled for. We’re talking white-beaked dolphins, harbour porpoises, and humpback whales, and that’s just a small sample of the marine life you could be lucky enough to spot. You’ll have between two and three hours on the boat, so there’ll be plenty of time to scan the seas for fins and flippers.
