Autonomous sensory meridian response – or ASMR, for short – is a term that’s been coined to describe an experience of soothing, almost euphoric tingles that can come from sound stimuli. You may’ve experienced it yourself and not known about it, so let’s go through some examples. Think back to your last eye exam. Did you get a bit of a shudder when the optician quietly instructed you to look left, right, up, and down? A lot of ASMR experiencers recall their school days as the first time they ‘got the tingles’ – as softly spoken teachers took register, or dictated from textbooks. If you can relate to any of the above, congrats – you’ve just joined the ASMR community.
Speaking of the community, it’s huge. Thousands of content creators take to YouTube to film videos specifically aimed at inducing ASMR feelings. The ASMRtists, as they’re known, home in on triggers that are known to give you tingles, so you’ll see everything from doctor-patient role plays, to camera brushing, to whispering. In fact, ASMR fans have been said to look to their favourite YouTubers to help them combat everything from stress and anxiety to insomnia.
Our Sensatori holidays are all about stimulating the senses, which goes hand-in-hand with the skin-tickling, brain-melting sensations of ASMR. So, we put our extremely relaxed heads together to collate the most calming sounds you’ll hear on a Sensatori holiday. We’ve created three ASMR videos, each based on a different Sensatori experience. One showcases the resorts’ beachfront addresses, letting you soothe yourself into a peaceful state as the ocean’s waves gently crash around you. One focuses on the gourmet Sensatori dining – prepare to let out an ‘ahhh’ as you listen to the satisfying sound of wine pouring into a glass. And the other lets you picture yourself in a five-star Sensatori spa, accompanied by blissful spa music and the noise of a masseur’s gentle touch. Just sit back, relax, and press play.

Just like the millions of ASMR enthusiasts, we’ve harnessed the power of sound to create sound meditation – a brand-new wellbeing session that premieres across our Sensatori resorts this summer. Sound meditation combines yoga and mindfulness with ASMR-esque healing sounds, from instruments like Native American flutes and Tibetan singing bowls. What’s more, the sessions will be delivered from our signature wellbeing platforms, so that picturesque views can further aid feelings of balance and contemplation. Look out for our new sound meditation sessions, which will feature in all Sensatori resorts, except TUI SENSATORI Resort Azul Jamaica.
Sound meditation’s just one of many Sensatori wellness classes you can sign up to. Here are six reasons why yoga and holidays were made for each other.
A beautiful white-sand beach, designer interiors and a gourmet dining scene are the calling cards at TUI SENSATORI Resort Azul Punta Cana.
