Mexico's Pacific Coast boasts sweltering highs of 31C in November, and it happens to be the start of the dry season, too. The star attraction in this region is Banderas Bay – a 42-kilometre stretch of sand, which boasts the kind of golden beaches you’d think only existed on postcards. Stay at the Secrets Vallarta Bay Puerto Vallarta, and you'll be footsteps away from the best sunbathing spots around. Puerto Vallarta also happens to be home to one of Mexico’s best dining scenes, so you can eat your way around the town, and sip margaritas on the malecon.

This Mediterranean marvel is blessed with year-round sunshine and, in November, temperatures reach highs of 23C. You’ve got a mix of small, sleepy regions like Nissi Beach where you can enjoy an away-from-it-all break, or large, bustling resorts like Paphos where there's plenty going on. Think wine tours, watersports, and ancient sites like the Tombs of the Kings. Plus, the flight time from London to Cyprus is around four hours, making the island a super convenient spot for a quick winter getaway. If you want to stay in a secluded hotel that’s near enough to the action, pick the Louis Phaethon Beach, which is located just outside Paphos, and has its own waterpark with a small beach nearby.

This archipelago of islands off the west coast of Africa boasts a Caribbean-style climate and offers a mix of cultural influences and cuisine from Africa, Brazil and Portugal. Sal and Boa Vista are the most popular islands for holidaymakers. Sal is a go-slow island that’s perfect for a switch-off-escape, where you’ll find white-sand coastlines and Crayola-coloured towns like Santa Maria. Boa Vista, meanwhile, combines dreamy beaches with a volcanic countryside, and you can get out and explore the scenery on a 4x4 trip.
