Beaches, forests and net-fresh seafood – you name it, the west coast of Cyprus has it.
If your ultimate Cyprus getaway features crowd-free beaches and romantic countryside strolls, Latchi is for you. This quiet fishing village sits pretty on the island’s northwest coast and is home to a mile-long stretch of sand, dotted with waterside restaurants. Akamas National Park – an area of outstanding natural beauty – is on its doorstep, too. You can hop on a boat there from the harbour and swim in the gin-clear Blue Lagoon or look out for wildlife along the walking trails.

Limassol has long been a favourite with holidaymakers – Cyprus’ second-biggest city has everything from golden beaches and Roman ruins to a standout shopping scene, after all. Spend your afternoons topping up your tan or exploring the ancient old town. By night, the seven-kilometre promenade – with its waterfront restaurants and sophisticated nightclubs – is the place to be. Away from the centre, you’ll find Governor’s Beach, a small limestone cove with soft black sand.

A medieval castle overlooking the sea, the UNESCO-listed Tomb of the Kings – Egyptian catacombs carved out of solid rock – and ancient Greek mosaics are just some of the historic sites you can see in Paphos. Add these to its sandy beaches and modern harbour lined with restaurants, and you can see why it’s known as one of the best holiday destinations in Cyprus. Daytrips to the photo-worthy rock of Aphrodite, Adonis Baths waterfalls and protected Akamas Peninsula are must-dos here, too.

With a stellar shoreline and a lively nightlife scene, holidays to Cyprus’ south coast are at the top of their game.
It might have a party-hard reputation, but Ayia Napa’s got way more up its sleeve. We’re talking 14 Blue Flag beaches, cobbled streets and a Medieval monastery. Freshly caught seafood is served by the harbour here and there’s a waterpark nearby for family fun. Of course, if it’s the clubs and bars you’re after, you’ve got plenty to pick from. The main square is where most of the action is, but there are quieter spots by the sea for chilled-out cocktails, too.

Pearl-white sand, authentic Greek tavernas and a supersized waterpark all within walking distance – holidays to Nissi Beach couldn’t be more hassle-free if they tried. The beach here stretches for 500 metres and shelves gently into the Mediterranean. It’s backed by snack bars, too – perfect if the little ones get peckish. And, if you want to explore further, Ayia Napa is a short five-minute bus ride away.

Peaceful yet sight-packed, Protaras is a firm favourite with well, everyone. The beaches here are said to be the island’s best. At the main one, Fig Tree Bay, you’ll find soft sands, watersports and a little island you can swim out to. Above the bay are excavated Hellenistic tombs, too, and nearby Cape Greco National Forest Park has snorkel-ready waters and protected pine forest trails. Varosha, which became a ghost town after the Turkish invasion in 1974, is also a well worth a visit – it’s about a 40-minute drive away.
