El Dorado Maroma, a Spa Resort by Karisma

Wow, so where do I start? I picked this place because I wanted to get away, and I wanted luxury. This place gave me all that and more. I was traveling solo and was worried because I had found out later that this hotel was kind of a secluded couple's resort (and I definitely felt that at times during the duration of my trip) but the staff, food and accommodations made up for this ten fold. Check in - I was greeted by the staff as soon as I stepped out of my taxi, with my bags already handled. I sat down with the front desk while drinking my complimentary glass of champagne, who informed me they were upgrading me to the Presidential suite since it was my birthday that weekend, free of charge. Check in was so smooth, lobby clean as hell, staff friendly and helpful. Room and grounds- Holy crap the room. 2 living rooms, 3 bathrooms, outdoor shower, jacuzzi, kitchen, dining room, balcony. I was overwhelmed at the size, cleanliness and design of it all. It was hard to leave the room! The pool area for the Presidental suites were beautiful, just a few grasshoppers in the water but I was cool with that. The resort was pretty empty when I went so I had the pool mostly to myself. The resort itself is on the smaller side compared to others but this was a plus for me. I enjoyed being near all the restaurants, beach and shops. Beach - There was a bit of seaweed but nothing crazy. Water was warm, clean and it was beautiful to swim right near the bungalows. Service on the beach was quick and prompt. I never had to wait for drinks. There was even a wedding going on one day while I was laying out...and of course it was beautiful and of course I cried! Staff - This is where this resort really shined. From the front desk to my concierge to the staff at the restaurants everyone was just simply amazing. Shout out to Omar who helped me get into my room after forgetting my key card (I drank a lot this vacation!) and gave me a small gift for my bday. Also a big shoutout to Dante (I hope that's his name!) from concierge for helping me plan my birthday dinner at the restaurant overlooking the bungalows (just beautiful!) and turn down service. Another shout out to a particular hostess at the restaurants (I forget her name...damn my memory) who helped me take my solo pics, walked me drunk to the bar after dinner and helped me find my way around the resort. She really was wonderful. I also wanna give a final shoutout to the man who handled my bags and helped me with any requests I had whether it was big or small (I wanna say Jose?). Food, room service, and restaurants - The food was pretty much amazing. Room service was 24 hours and very prompt (never waited more than 30 min for food), which was such a plus but I was disappointed to find out there were no buffets. The resort did have a fancy vibe so I understand why but it was hard for me as a solo traveler because I felt the couple vibe the most when I was dining. I tried the italian place, which had such an array of food and also a beautiful interior. The fancy restaurant above the water was an extra $70 dollars but I think was worth it just for the views and experience. I also visited the restaurant by the beach, where they specially made me fish since I didn't eat meat...I mean this place just went above and beyond in every freaken way! I also checked out Bar 24, which had beautiful views of the resort. The place itself was pretty dead, but I'm not sure if it was because of the time I visited or it's just not that type of place. My last night was my birthday and after I came back from my dinner the staff had arranged decorations on my door, petals and ballons on my bed, and cheesecake in the dining room! Perfect end to my stay there. I can't say enough about this place. If you are looking for an intimate, quiet, beautiful resort with amazing staff and rooms, look no further. I can't wait to return!

Lovely hotel, small and intimate. Great food and the service was amazing from all staff. We had a swim up room into the main pool which was beautiful although quite shaded so didn’t use as much as we had hoped. Drinks and food were of great quality. The thing that sets this hotel above the rest is the staff and their amazing service. Room was well equipped and cleaned to a high standard. The fire show and Mexican fiesta were the highlights for the entertainment. Beautiful beach and surroundings
