We booked this holiday a year in advance and I didn't pay too much attention to the reviews as people are always divided but I did want to give mine. Having waited over a year and forked out 2 and a half grand I must admit I was not blown away by this hotel or this resort, Puerto Aventuras. I guess its the equivalent of a bog standard hotel for us Brits in Spain or Turkey but I expected more for the price and the fact it is almost the carribean! We did get sick but it was from the drinks, cups are not washed properly so we ended up buying our own, the buffet food we liked bit we saw re-use of food so we went to the A La Carte Restaurants which we thought were all brilliant but the Steakhouse was our favourite. People do put down towels like the Germans in Europe! haha, tad annoying but dealt with it. We were told to take US dollars to Mexico over Pesos, in the hotel we couldn't use these and everything was card or charge to room, I found this annoying when I wanted a bottled drink I had to walk down to the OXXO supermarket in the resort as I don't want to use my card when ive bought hundred of dollars with me and the hotels exchange rate is criminal. The bar staff and the cleaners are the nicest staff at the resort, reception and managers that roam around are sour-faced. I loved the beach bar! the guys behind that were brilliant and the Entertainment team on a Sunday for Kareoke really do a great job with such a range of nationalities at the resort. Not much to do on rainy days and we had a few so we were stuck in the room. I think I thought it would be a little more upmarket as friends of ours were staying in the Bahia Principe down the road and theres was a lot nicer and only a fraction higher in price. I wouldn't go back to this resort but it wasn't all bad, hence my title mixed emotions.More
Good stay, our second time there. Beach is rocky, but has great snorkeling. Food has a large variety, but isn't the most amazing. Beach volleyball was a ton of fun. The drinks seemed to be good, and the bar tenders were always nice and willing to try and make you something unique. More
Nice and small resort. I enjoy the bar staff; however, this location was very far from attractions and nightlife. The spa services were excellent and please take advantage of the coupons and discounts. More
My wife and I just got back Oct 14 on property for 7 days. Resort Standard Room, Food, Grounds were great. Most staff was very friendly. We did have a few minor problems with spa, Changed our time without telling us which was corrected. Front desk with check out gave us wrong bill we are still waiting for credit on our card. We have been to over 20 different resorts in Mexico can not say this is on top of our list. Now Catalonia Tulum we have been on twice which was Outstanding. With the problems we had at spa we did get a slight upgrade to privileged but we would not have paid for it. Room was on 4th fl was clean and confy. But how much time do you really stay in it. We did have a good time.More
Fantastic Beautiful Relaxing
I returned home on the 13th October after a 3 week stay. I upgraded to a privilege suite which was worth every penny. The extra space was great and laying in the plunge pool while it was pouring with rain was an experience that I would love to repeat. I ate mainly at the Bloved restaurant which never disappointed but the others including the buffet were also good. The staff amazing, the grounds beautiful and the beach was lovely with the lagoon. I booked Cenotes trip and snorkelling at the Dive Center on the beach which were priced reasonabley and provided fantastic guides. I have visited Mexico before at another resort but I must admit that I would love to return here. I have never had a 3 week holiday before and was worried I wouldn’t have enough to do. How wrong was I. I was snorkelling at 7 am each morning and walked to the mariner everyday. Sometimes twice. They have dolphins, sea lions and manatees that you can watch as you stroll or stop and have a drink at the resteraurants and bars around the marina. I brought my friend a feed the Manatees experience which she absolutely loved. I can’t big this place up enough. I celebrated my birthday while there of which there was a birthday banner on my door and i received a birthday cake on the actual day. All I can say now is a Big Thank You for a fantastic holiday and I wouldn’t hesitate at returning next year if I get the opportunity.More
