October 2017 Holiday to Mexico
Visited the ClubHotel Riu Tequila for a second time. As per the first visit the staff and atmosphere of this friendly hotel were second to none. Rey and Veronica in the bar areas were brilliant very friendly and attentive. Always offering different drinks to try. The rooms and hotel were cleaned to a very high standard and although the decor is a little tired this does not have any impact on the way the staff behave. The entertainment was very good and the choice of things to do is vast. We learned that the hotel will be having a refurb in 2018 but lets hope that they do not change the character of this great hotelMore
An absolute pleasure to attend this hotel and have its staff take care of us the way they did. The reception and the porter staff were very professional and courteous sometimes the inability to speak the same language 100 percent did interfere a little but there is always someone close to jump in and help I found. The maids were exceptionally thorough clean and organized and very polite my only criticism is the master kill switch which turns off the AC and the fridge, we lost fruit and other snack items if we didn't go back to the room after the cleaning was completed. The food top knotch no complaints at all the bamboo restaurant was my favourite but I was surprised at the lack of sushi variety and fish choice but the meal still would be a 8/10. The entertainment was well put together amazing costumes and the staff always had a smile and a positive energy that was infectious. The costumes were absolutely flawless I understand why the other Riu chains close by came to our resort for the entertainment. My only caution is the jewelery shop in the Riu, the young fellow in there is very sneaky and shady he offered us a Mayan diamond these don't exist in the gem or jewelery industry, he didn't know his Silver id nmbers 950 925 etc. We caught him in too many lies to tolerate any more of his pitches, he even charged more that the shop he owns in the shopping district on fifth Avenue absolutely rediculous . First time to Mexico, so didn't no what to expect, only what other people had told me and reviews on this web site and Thomson's. I found the reception very spacious with plenty of seating in pleasant surroundings but a little dated, but spotlessly clean, courteous staff. The allocated room on the second floor was very conveniently located beside the pool area just off the walkway. Again the room a little dated but otherwise spotlessly clean with two large beds in the main room. In the rear was a curtained off area with mini bar/fridge, fitted wardrobes with safe (free) iron and ironing board, hair dryer etc. Shower cubicle was Ok but needed more power. Room service excellent. The pool area was excellent as were the entertainment staff who did a great job with the various activities around the pool, also provided great evening shows in the theatre area. The food on offer was mind blowing! whether breakfast, lunch or evening meal there is something for everybody, also there are themed sessions, a great deal of care went into the meals provided. There are three restaurants to choose from within the complex. The grounds are kept very clean and well tended by the grounds men. A great feature of this hotel is the wildlife! they have Coati's which I believe are of the Lemur family, very entertaining and mischievous to at the least! A short walk out from reception across the road a walkway takes you directly to the beach, with plenty of loungers and again a terrific restaurant serving great food in the lunch hour.More
A little bit disappointed
2nd time here, loved it so much I had to go back, what a shock, pool filters not working so pool not so clean.pool bar sticky and flies all over the tops of cocktail pourers to be filled in the mixer and blended into your drinks.fruit for drinks left out for flies to munch on.i agree with other TripAdvisor s the staff are amazing the place is beautiful. Phenomenal trips out especially the marina 10 minutes away.the food in the restaurant s are fantastic but sadly the filthy sticky bars , the coffee machines which are either like treacle or water (no in-between) and the ice cream machine never working I was not impressed.wildlife is beautiful but I was not expecting cockroaches in reception and in the pool.More
Have just returned from a 2 week holiday. Food was great for the most part. The meal for returning guests was far from great sadly, this was being held in the Bamboo . Soup was cold , this was due to it being served up and left until it was brought to the tables. We could actually see the food being dished up and left until it was brought to the tables. The main was also luke warm, my steak being rare and my friends being well done, (would have been nice to be asked how you like it )and our husbands meal never arrived as they served other tables .Never have we had a bad meal, so we were all very disappointed. This being said , food is very very good and choice is vast. A big thank you to Rangel and Shimu for the best service and always done with a smile . The best part of this holiday is the entertainment team. Each and everyone of them made us laugh, day and night , never did it get boring with them around. On the day of a tropical storm, the entertainment team kept us fully informed of what to expect and what was also expected from us ( the storm never arrived luckily) they put out very clear announcements at lunch time and told us that meal times would be different as the restaurant would be closing early and also the bar areas . We did not hear anything at from Tui , so this info from the team at the time was most welcome. Cirque du soleil was excellent, well worth a visit, but drinks very expensive . 3d museum (world of wonders in playa) is worth a visit too. we went when it was raining and it is a good 1.5 hours out and a good giggle. For anyone looking to buy English cigs or tobbaco at Cancun airport... they told us today (13th October) they no longer sell them , there was none out at all, so we got them on the plane coming home . Looking forward to returning next year and seeing the new changes. Thanks again to the animation team for the laughs and keep up the good workMore
