So far, Usain Bolt has opened two Tracks and Records restaurants in Jamaica. The original one is in Kingston and takes up a huge 7,000 square metres of space. It’s around the corner from the Bob Marley Museum, and the perfect place to grab lunch after your visit. The second restaurant can be found in Ocho Rios near the Jamaica Inn hotel, and a third is set to open in Montego Bay at St James Place Shopping Plaza.
The unique chain is designed to showcase Usain’s love of music with his achievements in sport – hence the name Tracks and Records. And, since the restaurants opened, there have been numerous track and field viewing parties and live music events. Even Shaggy turned up to perform...
The eatery-come-sports bar is unlike other Caribbean restaurants, combining traditional Jamaican elements with modern décor like quirky board game-style tables.
And, in true Bolt-style, the venue is a bit of a shrine to the main man himself. The walls are emblazoned with Usain Bolt murals, digital screens featuring his world record times, and sports memorabilia. At the Kingston venue, you’ll find the signed running vest that he wore to win the 200m world record in Berlin. And, as well as the main dining area, there’s a sports bar with loads of screens where you can catch all the sporting action, plus regular live music events.
The restaurant caters to all, even the fussiest of eaters. Everything from pizza and burgers to salads and local specialities are on the menu – and most have a Jamaican twist to make them extra special. Opt for the Jerk Pan and you can taste delectable meats straight from the coal fire, seasoned with jerk spices and served with traditional hardo bread. Or, try the Tracks Signature Cheeseburger which is made from pimento-spiced beef, cheese and jerk-spiced aioli. The restaurant has its own signature line of hot sauces, which you can sample with your meal, and then buy at the gift shop.
Desserts line up traditional treats like warm rum cake served with coconut rum sauce, Guinness-infused cheesecake and Jamaican bread pudding. And you can wash it all down with a Red Stripe beer, a rum cocktail or even try the special Bolt shot – a medley of liquors in the colours of the Jamaican flag.
The tropical Riu Ocho Rios is close to the main attractions, backed by thick rainforest and right on a white-sand beach
The Moon Palace Cancun is tucked among 123 acres of gardens, and sits right on a white-sand beach.
