Hotel Alpenaussicht

Lovely family hotel; perfectly welcoming, clean and convenient for our holiday. Food was good, hospitality excellent and staff could could not do enough for us. Nursery slope just over the road with access to main slopes via gondola. Our second stay here and we would highly recommend it.

Found a great deal with Crystal price wise for late March and arrived with trepidation as the price was approx 1/3 of what we had previously paid at the five star hotel opposite. Meal on first night was very bland turkey with rice but the food got better as the week went along but not much choice. Would say guests split 60% Brits and 40% other Europeans, all very sociable. Agree that bar area has no atmosphere but there is a nice quiet lounge adjoining to sit after dinner. No smoking which was a big plus for us. We had the basic room overlooking the mountain at the back but it was clean and quiet. Drinks prices were also cheap. Latte €3.60/Aperol Spritz €5.50/Small house white wine €2.80 which they also sold by the carafe. We rented robes at €10 each for the week and used the spa each night which was warm and tranquil. Staff members that require a mention are Luisa on reception Waiting staff Andy, Gustavo, Mauritz, Heidi. Bar Maximilian Owner seemed a bit reserved (perhaps it is a language thing)but his wife was very pleasant. Suggest setting out seats to sit in the morning sun as this is what we liked to do.

I have stayed in different hotels in Obergurgle over the last 5 years from middle to high end and this is the most enjoyable stay I have had. The hotel is situated on level ground off the main street so no steep walks to the top of the village after skiing or dinner out and has a bus stop right outside for Hochgurgle and Solden. Its an 8 min walk to the main centre and you can ski pretty much back to the hotel with its own boot room provided. The Hotel is lovely as are the staff who couldnt be more helpful !!! I had a single room which is more a double and large enough for 2 people so I can only imagine the double rooms to be spacious. The rooms are very clean and comfortable with a sofa and great views, Food in the evening was fantastic - iv stayed in some hotels that offer 5/6 courses with small portions but you definitely get a good size quality main at this hotel which is what you need after skiing. I have seen comments about the tap water being chargeable however I was not asked once to pay and the drinks are very reasonable with a great choice of wines. .....great dinning experience in the evening. Breakfast was a little disappointing at first (compared to other hotels) but there is a choice of hot and cold options and well presented so you cant really grumble. If you want to pay high end money in Obergurgle with all the frills (pool / decent bar area) this isnt the hotel for you however from what ive seen and experienced most of the other hotels have a similar offering to this hotel only the Alpenaussicht does it better and is in a great location. .....talking to the other people in the hotel they go back year after year so I think that says it all - its not a 5 star hotel however its a great 4 star and ill definitely be back ! Thanks for a great stay and the way I was looked after - home from home and I dont understand any of the negative feedback below because there doesnt deserve to be any.
