This area is one of the oldest in Dubai, and recent years have seen it brought back to its former glory. It’s a collection of low-set Arabic houses with central courtyards and wind towers poking from the top – all a 20-minute drive from Downtown Dubai. Mooch around the winding alleys, and you’ll find quirky shops, art galleries and restaurants. And nearby is the Dubai Heritage Village, where you can peek into the city’s simple past. Craftsmen weave fishing nets and potters display their craft.
