This hotel has a VIP feel – it’s only accessible by boat, and its other-worldly surroundings look like a set from Leonardo Di Caprio’s The Beach.
The Centara Grand Beach Resort And Villas Krabi sidles up to a secluded beach, where the bone-white sands are lapped by bright-turquoise waters. The limestone karsts dotted offshore add to the postcard-worthy vistas.
Rooms combine traditional Thai style with modern features. You can choose between ocean-view rooms, couples’ suites and private villas. Some of the rooms have their own plunge pool, too.

21st Birthday in Thailand
I came with my daughter and can highly recommend this wonderful resort. The room had an amazing sea view, very clean and more than adequate. Staff are friendly and attentive, no hard sell for trips and the two trips we did do were fantastic... speed boat was great with food and drinks (including beer) provided... the staff on the trips ensured safety but also made sure you got time on each Island giving you information about each place and where best to snorkel etc.. really great bunch of guys. The waiters in the restaurants, Jack, Ju & Gib are fantastic... every meal was amazing and the new Grill bar is great! A fab young barman as well in The Lotus restaurant for your cocktails. All in all wonderful place, staff, trips and food... More
Gorgeous, perfect get-away
This resort is simply amazing. It is nestled in a private cove and feels very private and quiet, but not 'lonely.' The ocean is warm and inviting and the sunsets are some of the most beautiful you will ever see. My favorite sunsets are in this part of the world, especially after rain. The Centara Grand is great for some R&R, romance, or even to have the feeling of your own 'private island' (even though it's not technically an island). It's very peaceful. We went in 'shoulder season' so it wasn't crowded at all. The pool was huge and a great temperature. We spent quite a bit of time one day just swimming and floating in the pool, enjoying the view of the ocean. We didn't swim in the ocean itself but put our feet in as we walked along the beach. It was like bathwater and perfect. The rooms are very large and have everything you need: Desk; really comfortable beds; huge bath tub; great rain shower; powerful air conditioning; sundry bathroom/personal care items (always my favorite - free 'bath stuff'); robes; flip flops; blow dryer; safe; mini bar; free waters; wifi; canvas beach bags.) Our room felt really spacious and the view was fantastic. We were slightly up against the cliff, so we were able to stand on our balcony and look out over the resort and the ocean. There was a large 'outdoor' sitting area (both covered and uncovered) where we could just relax or eat. Speaking of eating, there are at least four places to eat. The first night we ate at "On the Rocks" because we wanted to eat outside by the ocean. The food was good and prices inline with beach locations. In the morning I had the best breakfast. My kids are late sleepers, so I got to enjoy a moment for myself. I also discovered that they have an espresso-type machine that makes cappuccinos and lattes, so I made a few trips over there for refills. I was super-caffeinated. They had absolutely everything anyone could want for breakfast, and also cooked-to-order eggs. You can tell that I am a fan of breakfast; I would make this review all about the amazing breakfast if I could. We did not have a chance to eat at the Japanese restaurant or the Thai restaurant, but we ate at Lotus Court (where they serve the breakfas - they also serve lunch and dinner). The food was very good, slightly less expensive than On the Rocks, and had a great variety for a family. We also ordered room service one night during a heavy rainfall when we were too lazy to go out. It was nice to sit, relax and eat while listening to the rain. There is a lot to do at the resort. They have a very nice fitness center (that I thought of using and didn't, but should have), classes (like yoga, water aerobics, Muay Thai). You can also kayak, snorkel, paddle board and do other non-motorized water sports. The little bay is very safe and a great place to learn basic water skills (or be brave and venture farther out). They also have a PADI dive center. You get one free hour of activities a day, so you can pick a new thing to do every day of your stay (crosstraining?). Unfortunately we were not able to stay very long, or else I would have had some great Instagram photos of 'fails' with me falling on my face since I am terrible at water sports. But I wanted to try. Oh, I wanted to try. If you are feeling like pampering yourself, they also have a spa. It's beautiful and relaxing, with a variety of packages. If you have younger kids or younger teens, you can send them to the Kids' Club (with a teen e-zone) while you get some 'me time' in at the spa. I also discovered they have a 'library-type' room (by the Japanese restaurant) where you can sit, read books, or work at a computer station. Another thing I wanted to do but ran out of time for. The only disappointment for me is that I did not get to see any monkeys. They have been working hard at keeping the monkeys in their natural habitat surrounding the resort and somewhat away from guests (and I understand why, since monkeys like to steal things), but I would have loved to see some. Of course, a walk just outside the resort and up by the 'monkey trail' would have solved my 'monkey-less' problem. Getting to the resort was only tricky only in that we had a lot of (too much) luggage. The speed boat ride was gorgeous. I was a little apprehensive about the floating jetty (I was envisioning my 'technology bag' landing in the water) but it wasn't a problem at all. The staff have expert sea legs and they also help you walk on it if there are waves. Everything went fine. We arrived late in the afternoon and once I got on 'dry land' and saw that my luggage had made it safety, I turned around and was treated to the a beautiful sight: the jetty floating on the most gorgeously-colored ocean. I read other reviews before we went that people wanted a more 'hopping' resort so they walked over the monkey trail into Ao Nang. If you want more action, clubs, etc., this resort is probably not a good fit for you. Stay in Ao Nang where you easily get from place-to-place. This hotel is great as a get-away if you want some couple-, family- or me-time. If you want to try something new (like a class or water sport). If you want to feel peaceful and pampered. If you need a break from the real world. If you need a break from a hectic life. It's like "fantasy island" without the island. So close to a city, but yet so far away in feeling. Awesome.More
We are just staying for 9 nights at the Grand Centara and are enjoying a lot!! The hotel is beautifully situated surrounded by palm trees, exotic trees and flowers, steep mountain walls and of course the beautiful beach. Service level is high and always friendly. The tours arranged out to the islands are marvellous and the crew at the boats the same. We can only give our highest recommendation if you want an exclusive getaway were you avoid mass tourism. Loved the place
Had a very pleasant time in the resort, right from the entry to the resort by speed boat, the restaurants and activities near the pool by Maria and her team was simply superb. I must say they (Maria & team) are very interactive and kids were having a great time with them. The resort is very well maintained The scenic beauty of the beach is a treat to the eyes specially the sunset. The breakfast was the best meal of the day, all the items were good. The only improvement needed would be in the dinner buffet. Overall it was a wonderful stay. We would definitely gonna visit this place again. More
Really beautiful spot.exactly how it looks online..rooms are beautiful as well. We arrived yesterday for 2 weeks and so far so good. My only thing is it's such a pity that all the restaurants except the Thai restaurant are so expensive compared to anywhere else nearby! Really is a beautiful place though but you end up talking more about how much things cost rather than the beautiful scenery and service. More
