Vigo Port Cruises, Spain
The port city of Vigo, on Spain’s west coast, is a blend of old and new. The settlement first found its legs over 500 years ago as a fishing community, which you can see in the old quarter. The streets in this part of Vigo are lined with Galician-style stone houses, some of which were built by the city’s first settlers. There are four cosy cobbled squares here, too, where you’ll find most of Vigo’s café culture. Head to the modern side of the city – near the waterfront – for the likes of sea-view boutiques and classy marina-view restaurants.
- Spread out on Praia de Bouzas Beach. This little sandy swathe is a 30-minute walk from the city’s cruise port, and is the perfect place to catch some sun and paddle in the sea.
- Wander around the manicured gardens of Castelo do Castro. This hilltop castle’s nestled in a pretty public park that looks out over the coast, so it’s the perfect place for a scenic picnic.
