This day out gives you a taste of one of Orlando’s most famous theme parks. It takes just over an hour to drive from Tampa to Walt Disney World Resort, where you’ll have your pick of the rollercoaster-filled parks. Choose one from Magic Kingdom Park, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Epcot and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park. This excursion includes entry to whichever one you opt for, and you’ll have six hours to roam the park before the coach picks you up for the drive back to Tampa. It’s a good idea to wear comfy shoes, as you’ll do lots of walking between rides.
This half-day trip takes you to one of America’s – and the world’s – best beaches. Clearwater regularly ranks among the global elite, and its famous shoreline is 45 minutes’ drive from Tampa. When you arrive, you’ll have free time to stroll along picturesque Pier 60, or browse the surf and souvenir shops of Mandalay Avenue. The most popular pastime, unsurprisingly, is lounging on the cream-coloured waterfront. The sand’s as soft as cotton, and comes with tiki bars, parks and street entertainers for company. After three hours of chill time, you’ll board the coach for the return journey to Tampa.
You’ll get a bird’s eye view of Tampa on this afternoon trip, which flies you above the city’s rooftops as the sun sets. You’ll start with a bus transfer to Busch Gardens, where you’ll get a quick safety demo before boarding a helicopter and lifting off. You’ll spend half an hour in the air, hovering above the St Pete Times Forum – the city’s sports arena – the Florida Aquarium and the University of Tampa. Snap pictures as the sun casts an orange glow across the skyscrapers, and your pilot follows the course of the Alafia River back across the city. Just so you know, you’ll need to bring photo ID for this trip – a passport or driving licence will do.
