Florida’s swamps stretch out for over 4,300 square miles. You’ll see a patch of it during this adrenaline-pumping airboat ride. On the 30-minute drive to the swamp, your guide will tell you about the mangrove-blanketed habitat, which is home to the biggest reptile in the country – the American alligator – bald eagles, wild pigs and wading birds. When you arrive at the airboat centre, you’ll set off for a 30-minute cruise. You’ll whizz up Saint Johns River – the longest waterway in Florida – to Lake Poinsett. Both are good places to get photos of some of the native wildlife. Plus, when the waterways open up, your driver will put their foot down, sending you skimming across the top of the water at speeds of up to 45 miles per hour. After your cruise, you’ll have some free time to look around the airboat centre for souvenirs, before travelling back to the port.
This half-day trip takes you to the Cocoa Beach Country Club, where you’ll head out on one of its three courses for a nine-hole game of golf. It’s a 30-minute drive from the port, and when you arrive, you’ll be given a bucket of golf balls and shown to a kart. Then, you’re free to pick one of the three courses. You don’t have to be Tiger Woods to play here. The club has holes that are ideal for absolute beginners to try out. You’ll have a couple of hours to make your way around your chosen course, after which you’ll head to the club’s restaurant for lunch. When you’ve had your fill, you’ll hop back on the coach for the journey to the port.
