Peterhof, the town of palaces, fountains and parks, is set on the coast of the Gulf of Finland. From the comfort of your coach, see some of the highlights, including the Constantine Palace, the Road Palace of Peter the Great, the parks of Alexandria and the beautiful Peter and Paul Cathedral. The highlight of your day will, of course, be the Grand Palace of Peterhof. It was conceived by Peter the Great to rival Versailles in splendour - and the extravagant fountain display is beyond comparison. Inside the palace, witness a flamboyant Baroque style and see the Oak Study that has survived unaltered from the days of Peter the Great. Afterwards, explore the Lower Gardens, a 300-acre park dotted with around 150 fountains. Don’t miss the Grand Cascade with its 3 waterfalls and the Samson Rendering, The Jaws Of A Lion. It represents Russia's victory over Sweden in the Northern War.
This is an active walking tour with about 1.5 hours of walking in the palace with no area to sit. It is not suitable for guests who have limited mobility or anyone using a wheelchair as there are no lifts, a number of steps and uneven terrain. The Grand Peterhof Palace can get busy which is unavoidable for such important historical sites, therefore please expect crowds and queues. Photo and video fees are included in the cost of the tour. Restrictions apply on flash photography in certain areas. The fountains at Peterhof are subject to maintenance work without advance warning.
