This trip is all about grand designs, both natural and manmade. You’ll begin with a drive through the Tverrelvdalen Valley, a half-pipe-shaped plain. Then you’ll pass through Finnmarksvidda Plateau, which is the largest plateau in Norway. The landscape here is a canvas of lakes and Sami summer homes. Eventually, you’ll arrive at the Sautso Dam, standing 110 metres high. The photo opportunities here are red carpet-quality. You can snap away at the Sautso Canyon, which will stretch away from your lens for 12 kilometres. Next, you’ll head underground into the exhibition room where you can watch a film about the construction of the dam. The plans were laid out in the early Seventies but the dam wasn’t built until the Eighties.
