Founded in 1641 by the King of Denmark and Norway, Kristiansand’s now the largest city in southern Norway. The Norwegians see it as a very much loved summer city and the perfect location for their vacation. And on this walking tour you’ll see why. You’ll head straight for the most interesting part of town is Posebyen. This old part of town has a distinctively traditional feel. It’s believed that the name comes from the French to relax – reposer. As this 14 block area was a favourite hangout for the French soldiers. Your guide is on hand to lead you through this protected area, which has the largest collection of wooden houses in northern Europe. As they point out the best bits and regale you with its history, it may feel and look like an open air museum but for the few lucky residents they get to call this area home.
