Lithuanian legends will come to life on this trip. You’ll visit the Hill of Witches – named after the pagan festivities that used to take place here – which is now home to a mythical sculpture trail. Local folk artists flock to the forested slope once a year to carve a cast of wooden fairy-tale creatures and characters. Spot kind-hearted giant Neringa and God of Thunder Perkunas, whisper in the ear of a wish-granting witch, or try your luck on the healing bench. You’ll also spend time in Blackshore, an old fishermen’s village on the UNESCO-listed Curonian spit. Peek inside the quirky Weathervane gallery and potter past the modern sculptures on the quayside, before stopping to sup the village’s famous amber drink. A pit-stop in Klaipeda’s atmospheric old town – where you’ll have some free time to seek out souvenirs in the amber market – rounds off the day.
