This tour’s one for nature fans and culture vultures. You’ll start with a trip to a 20-acre botanical garden near the town of Turbaco. It began as the brainchild of a German scientist in the 1970s. These days, it’s a popular attraction that’s filled with over 1,200 types of plants and trees from all over the region. Take a stroll through the Medical Garden – stocked with plants that are known to have healing properties – and the Paimentum, which is home to papaya, mamey apple and jack fruit trees. From here, you’ll head into Turbaco for a walking tour. Before you begin, you’ll sit down and watch a comedic theatre show that doubles up as a history lesson on the town. Then, you’ll set off through the streets. During your wander, you’ll learn about the local customs and religious rites in one of the museums, and visit a local family for a look around their house made from mud and straw. After a refreshing drink and a chat, you’ll start the return journey back to the port.
