This half-day tour takes you to one of the most picturesque cities on Italy’s south-east heel – Ostuni. It’s known by another name – the white town – thanks to its head-to-toe Tippex colour scheme. You’ll start with a drive from the port to Ostuni’s city centre. When you arrive, you’ll follow your guide through the cobbled streets and alleyways to your first stop – the Saint Oronzo Tower. This 20-metre-tall attraction was built in 1771, to honour the city’s patron saint. Legend has it, he helped stop a plague here in the 1600s. After you’ve taken a few photos, you’ll head to Ostuni Cathedral – the city’s centrepiece. It’s sat on top of the area’s tallest hill since the 10th century, and is home to an 800-year-old parchment archive. During your visit, you can take a look at its Renaissance-era ceiling artwork, and pose for a picture in front of its rose window. Afterwards, you’ll have some free time to do what you want. We recommend slipping into one of the cafés for a bite to eat. The city’s known for its mini-calzones, grilled aubergines and full-bodied red wine.
