There’s a sombre feel to this excursion, as you flick through the darker pages of Germany’s history book. To begin, you’ll be taken on a driving tour of Hamburg city centre’s sightseeing favourites. Lunch at a traditional German bratwurst stand comes next, before you head to a small town on the outskirts of the city . Neuengamme was the location of one of north-west Germany’s largest concentration camps during the Second World War, and thousands of prisoners lost their lives here. It’s since been turned into a memorial, and you’ll be given a tour to learn about its harrowing history.
