This three-hour jaunt takes you from Kristiansand to the vintage Setesdal railway. Built in 1896, this railway links Kristiansand with the Setesdal Valley. The line was closed in 1962, but today a part remains open for tourists. On the tour, you’ll climb aboard the vintage steam train and head north along the Otra River, over bridges and dams, and through tunnels and avalanche shelters. You’ll disembark the train at Royknes. Here, you’ll get to see an interesting timber slide which was once used to transport logs down to the Norwegian coast for export. Today, you can walk along parts of it and see suspension bridges, tunnels and swathes of forest as you go. You’ll return to port from here.
